- The incumbent will provide a specialist employment law service and manage the level of risk on people issues in the business._

**Key duties and responsibilities**:
**Technical advice on Employment law**
- In consultation with the Senior Legal Counsel, provide professional advice, guidance, and coaching to HR and Line Managers on employment law-related issues & processes.
- Interpretation of employment law and company policies and procedures.
- Identify employment law risks within the business and implement interventions to reduce and rectify same.
- In conjunction with the Senior Legal Counsel, conduct investigations and identify solutions to complex employment law issues.
- Facilitate the resolution of conflict through formal and informal grievance processes.
- Represent the company at CCMA cases and restructuring consultations and support the Senior Legal Counsel in complex matters at CCMA, Labour court and Stakeholder meetings.
- Excellent writing, research, and communication.

**Risk Management and Compliance**
- Ensure compliance with relevant labour legislation across the organisation.
- In conjunction with the Senior Legal Counsel, review and develop Employment Law policies and contracts in line with legislation.
- Keep abreast of all relevant legislation and ensure that policies and procedures comply with legislative requirements.

**Employment relationships**
- Acts as a relationship champion in the company to develop sound employee and management relationships (Labour relations).
- Introduce and facilitate communication systems on employment law-related issues and practices.
- Build constructive relationships between employees and employer.

**Training**
- Support the Senior Legal Counsel in upskilling the business on Employment Law-related processes.
- Training and guiding the HRBP’s on correct processes & implementation.

**General Administration, Reporting and Analysis**
- Tracking, reporting, and analysing cases and trends
- Generate reports for the Senior Legal Counsel as and when required.
- Reviewing and processing chairperson invoices and ensuring that invoices correspond with the work billed for.
- Collate data, follow up on outstanding matters and ensure that all files are properly maintained and organised.

**Legal System**
- Effectively maintain the company’s Legal Information System for employment law matters, ensuring the alignment of business processes to the system.
- Identifying and storing vital legal documents.
- Ensure version control management of all documents.
- Manage and update all documents and templates.

**Other tasks as reasonably required by Management.**

**Minimum qualifications and experience**:

- LL.B.
- Admitted Attorney or in the process of admission.
- Minimum 2 to 3 years of relevant employment law experience, with sound knowledge of LRA, BCEA, and the Employment Equity Act.
- Relevant exposure to the CCMA processes and represented employers in hearings.
- Excellent planning, report writing, presentation, coordination, and project management skills.
- Proven ability to influence various role players.

**Advantageous Qualification**:

- A postgraduate degree in Labour relations would be advantageous.

**Technical knowledge, skills, and attributes**:

- Knowledge and experience in Employee/Industrial Relations and applicable labour legislation.
- Formal dispute resolution in Conciliations and Arbitrations.
- Working knowledge of Employee Engagement processes.
- Building strong working relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Business acumen.
- Negotiation skills.
- Reporting Writing Skills.
- Computer Literacy and proficiency in MS Office.
- Excellent planning and organization skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Flexible and adaptable.
- Problem-solving.
- Proactive and results driven.
- Must be an articulate & persuasive communicator.
