Fitter

Tasks/Responsibilities:

- Responsible for planned and breakdown maintenance of mechanical equipment.
- Installing, repair and maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
- Remove and fitting of equipment components.
- Use welding equipment to fuse structural components.
- Use and maintain product welding files and ensure that files are available at any give time.
- Responsible for reducing waste generated by ensuring that the correct settings, welding speed and equipment are used during each welding operation.
- Fit and assemble the structural components of various mechanical systems.
- Regularly inspect all machinery, equipment and buildings of the facility.
- Repair and lubricate machines and equipment.
- Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools etc.
- Assist with the installation and dismantling of machinery and equipment according to layout drawings, blueprints and other drawings.
- Ensure that welding tools are in proper working condition and report faults.
- Working independently and with others to solve mechanical and technical problems.
- Assist Maintenance team with general maintenance not necessary trade related.
- Adhere to strict safety guidelines and cognizant of safety risks.

Qualifications:

- N3 Mechanical Engineering or Matric.
- Trade Test: Fitter.
- Welding qualification (MIG, TIG, Arc) will be advantageous.
- A valid driver’s license.

**Experience**:

- At least 5 years’ work experience as a Fitter in plant maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
- At least 5 years’ welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Exposure in food processing will be advantageous.
- Experience in working with specialized/power tools.
- Interpret technical drawings.
- Knowledge of HACCP, food safety, pest control and SOP’s will be advantageous.

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Atlantis, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- Certificate (required)

**Experience**:

- fitter in plant maintenance in a manufacturing environment: 5 years (required)
- welding in a manufacturing environment: 5 years (required)
- specialized and power tools: 5 years (required)

License/Certification:

- Fitter Trade Test (required)
- Driver's license (required)
