Head Bartender

We are a newly established fine dining restaurant in Stellenbosch, celebrated for our exceptional cuisine and curated wine selection. We offer a sophisticated and elegant dining experience, with an emphasis on creativity, quality, and excellent service. We are currently seeking a skilled and passionate bartender to join our team, someone who can elevate our bar service with expertise in mixology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve a variety of beverages including cocktails, wine, spirits, and non-alcoholic drinks in accordance with the restaurant’s high standards.
- Craft signature cocktails and recommend innovative drink pairings that complement our fine dining menu.
- Maintain a clean and well-organized bar area, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Engage with guests, providing knowledgeable and friendly service, and offering recommendations based on guests' preferences.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels, ensuring the bar is stocked with necessary supplies and ingredients.
- Uphold the highest level of professionalism and customer service in line with the restaurant's fine dining atmosphere.
- Collaborate with the kitchen and sommelier to create seasonal beverage menus that align with the restaurant's offerings.
- Handle cash and process payments, ensuring accuracy in billing.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a bartender in an upscale or fine dining environment.
- Strong mixology skills, with a proven ability to create and execute a variety of cocktails, including classics and innovative creations.
- Extensive knowledge of wines, spirits, and cocktail trends.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with guests in a polished and professional manner.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-paced, high-pressure environment.
- A team player with a passion for hospitality and providing an exceptional guest experience.
- Experience in inventory management and cost control.
- Certification in bartending/mixology (preferred but not essential).
