**To**:Create templates used to mass-produce clothing.

Translate blueprints and design models into factory patterns using drafting software or freehand measurement techniques.

**Patternmaker Job Description**

Must have experience and be Skilled in the use of GERBER and LECTRA to create factory patterns

**In this role you will have to**:
Study blueprints and design models

Create paper templates

Design final pattern for mass production using **Auto Cad, GERBER, LECTRA**

**QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS**

**Matric and.......** High school diploma or GED

Extensive experience with pattern design

Fine motor skills

Eye for detail.

Ability to perfectly translate designer ideas into a reliable and repeatable pattern that can be sent to the manufacturer.

**Responsibilities**:

- Meetings with product designers to discuss the base design.
- Reading and interpreting design models and blueprints.
- Creating rough-draft templates using computer drafting software CAD and freehand techniques.
- Measuring, cutting, and designing patterns in the material required.
- Double-checking the pattern dimensions and style.
- Sending the initial pattern for a manufacture check.
- Meeting with designers to review the final product.
- Tweaking the pattern and filing the design.
- Reporting back to company manager.

**PERSONAL Requirements**
- Previous experience as a Patternmaker.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and design models.
- Proficient with GERBER & LECTRA computer drafting software & CAD.
- Excellent fine motor skills.
- Experience with measuring, snipping, milling, and cutting tools.
- Detail-oriented.
- Ability to work to a deadline.
- Physically fit and able to stand for long periods.

Follow Trends, travel, visit shows, read fashion magazines to spot trends, and interpret specific colour palettes, patternsand prints for **each season**.
- Managing design process from conception through to final styling.
- Conduct market research to identify new trends, fabrics and techniques, and design inspiration.
- Collaborate with team members to select seasonal themes, make edits to line, and create new concepts.
- Ensure product is in lie with business strategy.
- Select fabrics and trims.
- Create production sketches for development packages.
- Collaborate with technical designer to ensure patterns are accurate.
- Review product for style and fit during presentation.
- Present story, mood, colour boards, and samples to buyers.
