**_ Position Purpose:_**

To ensure that corporate tax legislation is complied with so that there is accurate Tax reporting in line with the Tax policies

and procedures and ensuring risks and opportunities are identified.

**_Position outputs:_**

1. Provide accurate month-end and year-end consolidated financial reporting of current tax and deferred tax for Transnet Port

Terminals (TPT). Also follow up and liaise with Group Tax to resolve any outstanding queries.

2. Responsible for all tax matters audited by TPT and Transnet internal and external Auditors.

Manage internal and external audit throughout the audit process to ensure that the process is effective and efficient

Follow-up any tax-related issues in the external audit management letter or in the internal control reports and ensure that

they are dealt with promptly and in a satisfactory manner.

3. Responsible for ensuring divisional compliance with the Customs Act by assisting in developing and updating appropriate

policies and procedures in conjunction with Transnet Group Tax.

4. Arrange workshops and provide training on the policies and procedures for the business, provide technical updates on any

relevant issues that may arise and ensure that the tax compliance requirements are properly explained and understood.

5. Responsible for monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of Customs controls by managing Customers Champions at

all TPT terminals.

6. Serve as the liaison between Transnet Group Taxation and TPT including overall responsibility for implementing Transnet

Tax policies and procedures at a divisional level.

7. Responsible for completion and submission of TPT’s consolidated income tax return in respect of the Transnet annual tax

return.

8. Responsible for completion and submission of TPT’s consolidated VAT return in respect of the Transnet Ltd monthly VAT

return (VAT 201), ensuring that the vat principles have been correctly applied. Also follow up and liaise with Group Tax to

ensure the resolve any outstanding queries

9. Provide support to TPT Exco and Management on all tax related matters.

10. Engagement with external stakeholders (e.g. SARS, Customers, and Suppliers) on all TPT specific tax matters.

11. Maintenance and review of the SAP Tax Asset Register and reconciliation of tax and book value for all terminals.

12. Play an integral role in any related projects which will improve the controls, quality, integrity and efficiencies in asset and

tax reporting for TPT.

13. Visit the terminals to increase the knowledge and awareness of corporate taxes which will result in accurate reporting.

14. Perform reviews and spot checks on business processes and practises to ensure compliance with the relevant legislation.

Where necessary, recommend changes

15. Ensure that Transnet taxation guidelines, processes and procedures are updated with any changes in tax legislation and

that these updates are properly communicated to the business

16. Ensure that the Transnet Group Tax strategies and directives are applied consistently at the Transnet Port Terminal

17. Co-ordinate and prepare the bi-annual provisional tax calculations and ensure it's submitted to Group Tax timely

18. Prepare annual tax budget as per Transnet's requirements and ensure that it is timely submitted

19. Review of accounting policies to ensure that tax consequences are proactively identified and addressed

20. Ensure that the internal controls are properly and consistently implemented

21. Monitor non-compliance to ensure the appropriate process was used, exceptions are followed up and appropriate

corrective action taken

22. Manage tax risks within the Transnet Port Terminals to ensure compliance with the tax legislation
