**COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSE**

**Role summary**:
**Remuneration**:

- R 263,064 per annum

**Requirements**:
**Minimum educational qualifications**:

- Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse (general, psychiatric, community and midwifery)
- Post-basic legacy qualification with a duration of at least 1-year Diploma in Community Health Nursing with the SANC will also be acceptable.

**Professional Registration**:

- Registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse (general, psychiatric, community and midwifery)
- Registration with the SANC as a Community Health Nurse

**Experience**:

- A minimum of 5 years appropriate/recognisable nursing experience after registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse in general, psychiatric, community and midwifery.
- At least 2 years of the period referred to above, must be appropriate/recognisable experience after obtaining the Community Health qualification /or the 1-year post-basic legacy qualification in Community Health Nursing.
- Plan and organise community health workers’ development and intervention programs.

**Competencies**:

- Make recommendations regarding work methods to improve efficiency in the workplace.
- Perform preliminary examinations and assess the patient’s condition.
- Order stock from facilities and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Organise and participate in campaigns, clinics, workgroups and activities related to illness prevention and health (nutrition, sexually transmitted diseases, contraceptives etc.)
- Quality assurance supervision.
- Coordinate referrals and discharges.
- Develop and coordinate care and support plans.
- Prescribe and administer or issue contraceptive methods (including the follow implant and IUCD insertion or removal) in accordance with clinical skills, authorisation and appropriate space).
- Provide PrEP Cervical Cancer screening.
- TB and HIV testing STI treatment Immunisation across the life course. This includes routine and catch-up vaccinations and Phlebotomy.
- Keep abreast of new developments in the field to update skills and knowledge.
- Attend all meetings as required.
- Strong organisation skills, ability to multitask.
- Well-developed computer skills (word, excel).
- A comprehensive Curriculum vitae (CV) with contactable referees
- A copy of SANC registration for 2023
- A copy of identity document
