**Position details**:

Reports to: Project Manager

Job description / core competencies:
Principal Accountabilities

To deliver successful completion of all projects to be added to the operation and maintenance of Gautrain assets.

To develop appropriate safety, quality and performance standards for managing projects.

To achieve the quality and performance targets set for the Gautrain assets.

To lead and participate in investigations arising from change proposals, REA projects, ECP, PVN/CVN projects and all other internal projects activities and facilitate the implementation of recommendations.

To set up and update project schedules and implementation strategies of all projects.

To serve as a liaison for vendors and sub-contractors in the Project Department.

Participate in Procurement and Finance processes.

Specific Responsibilities

Creation of all engineering standards and procedures to execute project works.

Provide Project Management Programme in projects under your responsibility.

Ensure suppliers and subcontractors services are scrutinised and all required contractual notifications and documentation are submitted.

Advise Line Manager of anomalies in documents, specifications and drawings.

Manage project work progress and quality of work on site.

Ensure adherence to agreed programmes by holding regular meetings with sub-contractors and suppliers.

Ensure subcontractors and suppliers adhere to project specification.

Ensure adherence to health, safety and environmental requirements

Liaise with respective Division Units with regards to the project progress and completion.

Monitor program and key deadlines.

Maintain record (file) of all documentation pertaining to specific project.

Devise and implement quality assurance and quality control procedures.

Handover maintainable new projects to Operations Maintenance Units.

Participate in system improvement processes.

Direct the performance of service and ensure the compliance of safety and quality standards set by the Company.

Ensure strategies and plans are developed to meet all departmental objectives and continually improve the standards.

Adhere to Project budget and to report any deviations.

Ensure all environmental and safety rules are respected and alert Line Manager of any environmental and safety issue.

Provide guidance and leadership to all sub-contractors and suppliers.

Maintain good staff morale and job satisfaction and promote productivity movements in the department.

Compile monthly progress reports on all projects

Review and maintain quality documentation in line with Quality

Management System requirements.

Conduct regular inspections and audits on suppliers and subcontractors.

Undertaking any other duties as assigned

Work Context and Environment

Normal weekly hours, office environment.

Need to do overtime or night shift when required.

**Job Qualifications, Skills & Experience**:
Educational Level

B. Tech Civil Engineering

Years of Experience

At least 8 years relevant experience in managing construction projects

Management background will be a great advantage.

Desirable Traits

Computer literate and report writing

AutoCAD

Possess analytical and critical ability

Ability to communicate with staff of all levels

Possess leadership quality

Ability to delegate, supervise and control

Innovative, creative and strategic thinking

Problem solving ability

Negotiation and decision-making ability

Possesses self-drive and enthusiasm.

Abilities to supervise, control and issue written technical reports

Other Technical/ Professional Skills/Qualifications

Basic knowledge of Project Management and planning principles essential

Experience in construction contracts (JBCC, NEC, GCC etc) is essential

Construction quality management experience

Safety management

Civil Design and Installation experience

Construction experience

General technical knowledge

AutoCAD experience is essential

Language Ability

Fluent in English
