Procurement & Inventory Manager: Steel Pipes

**Key responsibilities & duties**:
Manage all aspects of loss control in respect of inventory as well as ensuring optimum deployment of inventory within the Group on a National basis

**Products**:

- Identify and review the groups fluid products steel pipes, fitting, valves, pumps, irrigation and flanges and other related fluid control products
- Review product specifications and align to group and market requirements
- Identify and suggest new / alternative products

**Suppliers**:

- Identify and continuously review both local and foreign suppliers
- Formalise supply agreements for approved local and foreign suppliers
- Formalise buying deals from local suppliers
- Relationship building with both local and foreign suppliers including overseas travel

**Procurement / Stock**:

- Forward planning and order placement of products ordered on a group basis in line with approved stockholding limits plan and forecast stock Inventory control
- Maximise price, credit terms and transport/freight costs
- Involvement in new product and strategy stock planning
- Track both local and international pricing trends and review impact on current stock cost, orders placed and price lists
- Responsible for updating Syspro price lists and any cost revaluations to fluid products
- Monthly review of group/branches stock levels in line with agreed stock levels and realign where necessary
- Monthly review of group/branches excess, slow moving, redundant and obsolete stock
- Assist individual branches at supplier level with large enquiries
- Day to day operational management of fluid buying team
- Work closely with branches
- Understand and implement Group strategy and policy in respect of stock control
- Implement and manage effective systems in respect of stock control
- Compile, validate and analyse and report on monthly related Group Inventory Statistics
- Understanding of Group costing models
- Understanding and management of inventory cost multipliers and transport recoveries
- Manage Group stock accuracy in respect of quantity, costs, values, descriptions, and product classes
- Manage the maintenance of the Group Inventory Master and control the use of buy-out codes
- Group inter-branch transfer control
- Review Group stock adjustments and variances
- Management of aged, obsolete & damaged stock and review of related provisions
- Implement and ensure adherence to perpetual and annual stock count instructions
- Develop, implement, and ensure adherence to stock receiving, despatching and stock adjustment procedures
- Optimise Group stock levels by Branch in accordance with Group approved policies and procedures
- Manage Group stock balancing & relocation process
- Liaise in a good manner with in-Group Departments

Be responsible for any ad-hoc job-related tasks as and when required by Management

**Minimum requirements & experience**:

- Syspro experience required
- 8-10 years experience required in buying of fluid control products, of which 3-5 years must be at a management level
- Management experience and supervision of staff
- Buying of Steel Pipes, Fittings, Flanges, Valves, Pumps, Irrigation, and other related fluid control products locally and internationally
- Computer literate: advanced skills on Excel and an ERP system
- Mature and assertive
- Hands-on Import experience
