WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The **Chief Security Officer** is responsible for all physical security functions at RDM Somerset West and is appointed in terms of the National Key Points Act and is responsible for all operational security functions

**KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS**
- Contributes to the development of operating procedures and participates in the formulation and implementation of all security, and risk/disaster plans.
- Reports any breaches of security, initiates investigations and prepares written reports of results as required.
- Reviews all reports of security staff and directs special investigations.
- Takes action in cases of security violations by any persons as required in the written rules and regulations concerning the functioning of the security department.
- Works with other facility personnel in maintaining proper security and assuring that necessary precautionary measures are taken for protection of people and property.
- Liaise with Security agents, SAPS, SSA, PSIRA, local authorities, etc.
- Responsible for performance management, career pathing and the development of the in-house security staff.
- Comply with all recommendations as set by regulatory audits/inspections

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
- Minimum Matric or relevant NQF 4 equivalent qualification.
- Formal Security Management qualification.
- Valid Grade A Security Training Certificate (PSIRA Registered).
- Firearm Competency Certificate (9mm pistol, shotgun and rifle).
- Demonstrated experience in managing security contractor/service provider on site.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the handling of emergencies.
- Excellent communication, planning and organizing skills.
- Experience in safety and security techniques, incident investigation and reporting techniques.
- Continuous improvement focus and ability to drive change management.
- Excellent interpersonal, facilitation and conflict management skills.
- Ability to work independently and with initiative.
- Standby required and be available for after-hour callouts.
- Computer literate (MS Office packages).
- Code B driver’s license & own reliable transport essential.
