Medical Aid rate based on principal member only)- Gr 8: R384 200 - R507 000- Advert Closing Date- 20/10/2024- Job PurposeTo administer and coordinate all industrial relations activities for the University including but not limited to, grievances, disciplinary enquiries, negotiation agreements; advise and train staff on internal ER policies and procedures as well as general labour legislation; provide support with initiating disciplinary processes; and representing the CPUT at the CCMA.

Provide sound, effective services, advice and support on employee relations matters to line managers and the broader HC team. Maintain and improve employee relations between management and employees as represented by the recognized Unions through regular communication, consultation and negotiation in the appropriate agreed forums. Represent the University in external labour fora. Ensure that CPUT’s policies and procedures are maintained at a level which will enable the University to achieve its objectives.
- Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- BTech with specialization in HR/Labour Relations/Industrial Psychology or equivalent
- 3 years’ experience working in HR with a specific focus on Employee Relations inclusive of initiating and chairing of disciplinary hearings and appearing at the CCMA up to and including arbitration level
- Recommended: Post Graduate Diploma in Labour Law, trained facilitator, trained mediator
- Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities- Employee relations (interpretation and compliance with legislation, implementation of best practice principles and investigations)
- Coordination and support for disciplinary matters
- CCMA representations (All processes)
- Stakeholder management (staff, organized Labour, HC, Management, external stakeholders)
- ER Related training and development
- Internal consultation on all Labour Relations matters
- Mediation of internal disputes
- Effective communication and administration
- Competencies- Ability to work in a pressurized environment and meet deadlines timeously
- Pro-active client service and people orientation
- Coaching and advisory skills
- In depth knowledge of labour legislation
- Problem solving

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
