My client, a leading and well known FMCG company based on the West Coast requires a competent and experienced Quality Control Superintendent to join their team in Saldanha. (180 km form Cape town)

This position is reprting to the Quality Assurance Manager

JOB PURPOSE AND DIMENSION:

- To ensure that initiation, implementation and maintenance of all aspect of Food Safety and Quality control as outlined in the Companys Food Safety/ QMS pertaining to Wet Fish Vessels /Frozen at Sea Vessels, incoming Materials and the Cold Store environment
- To manage the movement of fresh stock and / or frozen raw materials from the Cold Stores to the factories and vice versa and fresh fish sales
- Supervising a team of QA Auditors/Trawler QCs, Sea Trips to ensure QA/QC Procedures are followed.
- Ensure that all food safety Procedures and relevant regulatory requirements area followed.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Matric with Tertiary qualification in QA/Food Technology/ Bio Technology/Environmental Health/Managerial Diploma
- At least 5 years experience within fish processing/food manufacturing/FMCG environment
- Sea-Going experience
- Proven previous /similar managerial experience essential
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Computer literacy (MS Office).
- Excellent supervisory skills
- Analytical approach and report writing
- Ability to work under pressure and meet right deadlines.
- Attention to detail
- High drive, persistence and action orientated.
- Analytical approach and problem-solving ability
- Resolute in convictions in terms of food safety/ quality
- Problem solving abilities

**KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS**:
**Provide efficient quality control support service**
- Oversee the movement of frozen raw materials and product from the cold stores to the factories and vice versa.
- Ensure the monitoring of temperature profiles of materials and / or product through sampling, testing and time reporting.
- Check the sampling and testing of every consignment of purchased
- The role covers all materials delivered to the local store Cold Stored and visits to the outside Cold stores.
- Initiate, implementing and maintain procedures in the Cold Stores environment, ensure that all materials get delivered to the local Cold Store as well as outside Cold Stores.
- Ensure that all materials get delivered to the local Cold Store as well as outside Cold Stores
- Hand-on approach to daily problem-solving and conducting of regular visits to the outside Cold Stores.
- Daily verification of documentation generated and conducting of regular audits of the system and completed records to ensure continuous improvement.
- Conduct audits of suppliers of frozen materials as well as outside Cold Stores.
- Identify shortcomings in the system and recommend changes.

**Supervising QA team**
- Train Non-QA and QA staff in all aspects of food and safety and quality related to the online requirements.
- Manage a team of QA Auditors ensuring that they adhere to the Food Safety and Quality Procedures, as well as to the relevant rules and policies.
- Managing complaints and ensure that Export products are certified

**Group Cold store support**
- Clayville Cold store stock releases, check sheet verification ad general QA related issues and complaints
- Viking Mossel bay daily labelling approval and Qwix support
- Selecta, Export QC reports/documents approval and Labelling approval
- Viking Cape Town - Freezer Vessel QA Training and support

**Quality Raw Materials**
- Conduct at least 3 quality assessments a week
- Analyse and interpret all quality results for discussion in debriefing
- Ensure proper completion of all HACCP, Quality and Construction and Maintenance as well as filing
- Liaise with Quality department to extract elaborate quality assessment information.
- Present compiled reports and analyses

Processes, Procedures and Projects
- All vessels trained and signed off and visual display on vessel
- NRCS Audits, Housekeeping and hygiene targets: First time pass and achieve 95% and above
- Training of Vessel Factory Managers
- Fresh fillet processing
