**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Provide inhouse legal advice, manage the entity's legal obligations/agreements and identify legal risks to legal compliance and ensure that risks are implemented and managed effectively.

This role needs an individual who preferably understands the FMCG/Food and hospitality industry, The role reports directly to the Internal Compliance Lead.

**Duties**:

- Understand fundamental legal concepts
- Review laws and ensuring the organisation follows local guidelines
- Remain abreast of all changes in the legal and corporate governance in South Africa and internationally.
- Perform administrative duties around IFA's - Keep updated registers and ensuring completeness.
- Oversee internal litigation and legal paperwork
- Ensure agreements are signed and tracked through to completion.
- Perform company secretarial functions for all entities of the Group - Includes all relevant CIPC submissions.
- Advise managers and business leaders on legal matters and decisions.
- Draft, review and negotiate contracts for the entity.
- Write legal documents, including statements and agreements.
- Review of all lease agreements - new & renewals
- Review of all commercial contracts/SLA's/vendor agreements
- Review all franchise agreements
- Advise on & consult with Group attorneys on any commercial law matters.
- Perform administrative and ad hoc duties relating to the above

**Qualifications**:

- Applicants for this position should have a recognized qualification Legal Diploma/ Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or similar qualification.

**Experience**
- 3+ years legal advisory experience in a similar role
- Applicants must also have strong knowledge of South African legislation, with an understanding of common law, contract law, labour law, leasing etc,.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, research skills, attention to detail, organisation skills, basic computer skills, technical legal knowledge and the ability to maintain positive team relationships and function independently.
