- Reporting to Maintenance Manager- Purpose of Position:
- Planned maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance of existing plants and equipment;
- Un-planned maintenance: Attend to equipment breakdowns;
- Project work: Implement new projects on plant in conjunction with engineering team;
- Cleaning of plant equipment, areas, site and buildings;
- With instruction from Responsible Engineer: Ensure that mechanical and electrical machinery installations and operations are compliant to relevant legislation
- GENERAL DUTIES OF POSITION
- Perform planned and unplanned maintenance for plant equipment:

- Refer to Specific Discipline Table for detailed list of tasks.
- Minimum cross-discipline tasks: the following is required of all artisans:

- Completion of maintenance checklists;
- Inspection, maintenance and operation of plant utility systems (i.e. compressed air, water)
- Remove and replace pumps into service (all types)
- All electrical activities related to the company and affiliated plants with the main focus on electrical equipment for the treatment of waste materials at the required standards and cost effectiveness;
- Provide assistance of maintenance work:

- Hold or hand off tools, equipment and parts to other workers who are actively working on maintenance or repairs, including ladders;
- Fetch and carry tools and equipment required for maintenance tasks;
- Cleaning:

- Ensure tools, equipment, workshop and areas including sweeping, washing and are kept clean.
- Stock and equipment receipt and issue:

- Assist artisan/foreman/storeman to receive and store, and issue, equipment and stock and store correctly;
- Sign out tools, equipment and spares used to ensure stock management;
- Use of correct spare/part for the equipment designated.
- Tools:

- The artisan must supply their own tools in accordance with the specific trade in order to complete work. The tools are thus owned and maintained by the artisan and must be kept in good condition, and available for maintenance work, at all times. A minimum tool list is prescribed as an appendix to this document.
- The artisan is expected to use company tools correctly and responsibly, including signing out tools, cleaning, and reporting condition of normal wear and tear.
- Portable electric tools: these are supplied by the company and can be used correctly and responsibly.
- Record keeping documentation:

- Complete maintenance cards (“job cards”) for all work undertaken;
- Complete Permit to Work for non-routine work as defined by procedure;
- Ensure all records are submitted to Line Manager, including checklists.
- General:

- Collect urgent orders with the company vehicle (at instruction from Engineer), if in possession of driver’s license;
- Move stock using forklift.
- Work towards Key Performance Indicators as set and agreed to by Manager.
- PLANT
- Required to work in operational areas.
- HEALTH AND SAFETY
- Maintain a safe working environment for all plant and maintenance staff;
- Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety Regulations;
- Attend Toolbox Talks (in conjunction with SHEQ department and Foreman);
- Proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE);
- Maintain housekeeping in maintenance areas;
- MACHINERY
- Required to use forklift;
- Required to use portable equipment and tools.
- MANAGEMENT OF STAFF
- Required to supervise assistants and ensure health and safety of assistants working under Artisan as defined in work permit conditions.
- KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
- Refer to the Company's Performance Management Pack for more detail and tracking. The basic KPIs are:
- Plant availability;
- Housekeeping;
- Plant and site cleanliness.
- APPOINTMENTS
- With discussion with management, the following appointments can be accepted. Training would be provided:
- Fire-fighter / fire marshal
- First aider
- SHE representative
- GENERAL
- Follow established work schedules and act in a supervisory environment;
- Follow established policies and company procedures;
- Participate in risk assessments;
- Work overtime and maintenance shift schedule (as detailed in Employment Contract)
- Undertake training courses as required, for example, Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA), hazardous chemical substances, overhead crane, rigging, working at heights etc.
- Endeavour to conduct tasks safely using appropriate personal protective equipment. Seek assistance of other artisans/supervisors/engineers if task has unknown aspects to it;
- Ensure all work performed is checked prior to commissioning;
- Dispose of end products and by-products according to classifications and responsibly;
- Ensure the work area is left cleaned and all tools correctly returned;
- Be responsible and liable for tools and personal protective equipment (PPE) person
