**Job Title: Early Childhood Development (ECD) Teacher**

**Location: Table View**

**Reports to: School Principal**

**Job Purpose**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Curriculum Implementation**:

- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that align with the Early Childhood Development curriculum.
- Foster a love for learning through creative, hands-on experiences that encourage exploration and discovery.
- **Child Development**:

- Monitor and assess the developmental progress of each child, providing feedback and updates to parents and guardians.
- Create individualized learning plans that cater to the diverse needs of children, ensuring that each child reaches their full potential.
- **Creating a Safe Environment**:

- Ensure a safe, clean, and secure learning environment, fostering emotional and physical well-being.
- Implement and enforce classroom rules and routines that promote respect, cooperation, and positive behavior.
- **Building Relationships**:

- Establish and maintain nurturing and positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Communicate regularly with parents about their child’s progress and involvement in school activities.
- **Team Collaboration**:

- Work collaboratively with other teachers and staff to create a cohesive educational experience for all children.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training sessions as required.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**: A qualification in Early Childhood Development (ECD) or a related field is required.
- **Registration**: Valid ECD registration with the relevant South African authority is mandatory.
- **Experience**: Previous experience working with children aged 3 months to 5 years in an educational setting is preferred.

**Skills**:

- **Communication Skills**: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage effectively with children and parents.
- **Creativity**: Ability to design engaging lesson plans and activities that stimulate children's creative and cognitive development.
- **Patience and Empathy**: A nurturing demeanour with strong interpersonal skills to connect with young children and understand their needs.
- **Organizational Skills**: Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, keeping a structured and organized classroom environment.

**Working Conditions**:

- This position may require flexible hours to accommodate the needs of the school and its families.
- The role involves physical activity related to working with young children, including lifting, bending, and engaging in play.
