Support Staff (Cook and Cleaner)

**Reports to: Principal**

**Job Purpose**:
The Support Staff member will play a vital role in ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students and staff at [School Name]. This individual will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals and maintaining cleanliness throughout the school premises, contributing to the overall well-being and comfort of the school community.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Cooking Duties**:

- **Meal Preparation**:

- Prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks for students in accordance with dietary guidelines and menu plans.
- Ensure all meals are prepared safely and stored correctly according to health regulations.
- Cater to various dietary requirements and preferences, including allergies.
- **Menu Planning**:

- Assist in developing weekly menus that are balanced and appealing to children.
- Order and manage food supplies, maintaining an inventory and ensuring quality of ingredients.
- **Kitchen Maintenance**:

- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including regular cleaning of kitchen equipment and ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
- Dispose of waste and ensure proper sanitation practices are followed in the kitchen area.

**Cleaning Duties**:

- **Facility Cleaning**:

- Clean and sanitize all classrooms, bathrooms, and communal areas daily to provide a healthy learning environment.
- Regularly maintain outdoor areas, ensuring that the grounds are tidy and safe for students.
- **General Maintenance**:

- Monitor the condition of school facilities and report any repair or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
- Ensure all cleaning supplies are stocked and stored correctly.
- **Health and Safety Compliance**:

- Follow health and safety protocols in all cleaning and food preparation tasks.
- Participate in training on health and safety regulations as required.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**: Previous experience in a cooking or cleaning role, preferably in a school or child care setting.
- **Certification**: Food handling and safety certification is preferred; cleaning certifications may be advantageous.
- **Experience**: Experience working with children and knowledge of dietary requirements is an asset.
