**Job Description**:

- Ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective design, sequencing, and scheduling of the Platinum business open pits to ensure we maintain best for business short-medium term mine operating plans and tactics for each mine. Ensuring delivery of high-quality planning support to enable confidence in execution of our plans to meet committed budgets. To support the Mining Planning Manager Open Pit in providing specialised open pit design mining skills and experience as the Platinum discipline owner. To compliment and integrate with site mining teams and requirements of the Business Centre.

**Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to)**:

- Responsible for value optimised medium term mine planning and beyond of our Open Pits, in collaboration with the operational site technical and mine planning teams.
- Responsible for the review and implementation of mine’s strategic plan from a Long Term Perspective and to ensure that designs and schedules are executable and optimised.
- Identifies, reports and comments on key technical issues, risks and opportunities for value add on the operation and/or project.
- Participates in site and operational reviews (as required), generates reports, presentations and outputs as required to effectively communicate work outputs, performance and business information and intelligence.
- Custodian of short to medium open pit mine planning standards, mine design standards, conducts audits and tracks compliance from a strategic business plan perspective. Also required to review short to medium term plans to ensure expected outcomes are achieved.

**This role is a Band 6 role reporting to the Manager Mine Planning Open Pit.**

**Qualifications
- You will need the following**:

- Degree in B.Eng./Bsc/ BTec in Mining

**Experience**:

- Minimum 5 years open pit experience of which at least 3 to 4 years should be in mine planning/ technical environment
- At least 3 years site based mining engineering experience in open pit operations and mine planning.
- Extensive knowledge in Deswik planning will be advantageous
