**Main purpose of the job**:

- To conduct qualitative and quantitative research activities to meet the overall research objectives of the projects and that of the organization

**Location**:

- **PHRU - Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, Soweto - Johannesburg**

**Key performance areas**:

- Develop SOPs and protocols for data collection
- Develop and design research tools and training material
- Monitor and follow data collection procedures
- Capture research data
- Data Cleaning
- Conduct statistical data analysis and write up results
- Compile relevant reports and manuscripts for publication
- Obtain ethical (ethics) approval from relevant regulatory committees/bodies
- Train fieldworkers/interviewers and other relevant staff on the requirements for the study
- Engage Community Advisory Groups regarding research studies, as and when required
- Monitor the progress of research projects through ongoing liaison with the Research Team
- Collaborate closely with other investigators on related studies within the unit and provide advice and/or guidance on
- Lead Cross-functional teams in a manner that promotes productivity within the projects
- Provide sound coaching and empowering of the respective team members as skills need and deficiencies are noted
- Study design, protocol, research tools, data analysis, and other research-related activities
- Oversee the duties of other team members to ensure optimal staff utilization and project outcomes

**Required minimum education and training**:

- Master's in Research Psychology, Public Health, or related Degree with a qualitative background

**Required minimum work experience**:

- 2 years experience as a Researcher
- Registered with the appropriate professional body

**Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities**:

- Current Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Certification
- Willingness to travel, have a valid driver’s license, and is currently driving
- Strong qualitative, quantitative, and analytical skills
- Excellent writing skills
- Use of evidence-based approaches in setting priorities for health interventions
- Promote harmony, teamwork, and sharing of information
- Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrate effective self-management
- Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback
