Medical Officer

**Main purpose of the job**:

- To provide comprehensive medical care/clinical support to patients in vaccine clinical trials at the PHRU

**Location**:

- **PHRU, Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, Soweto - Johannesburg**

**Key performance areas**:

- Provision of clinical care to patients and participants
- Accurate and comprehensive medical record keeping
- Management of patient/participant flow in the clinic
- Clinical trial conduct as delegated by the Principal investigator

**Required minimum education and training**:

- **Medical Degree**

**Required minimum work experience**:

- **At least 2 years of experience in a clinical environment (can be inclusive of internship/community service time)**:

- **_Must be able to start work immediately_**

**Professional body registration**:

- HPCSA registration

**Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities**:

- Registered with MPS
- Excellent clinical skills
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification
- Experience in HIV treatment and care
- Empathy and understanding of people living with HIV/AIDS
- Research experience or willingness to learn
- Computer literacy using Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
