Diploma or similar qualification in Industrial, Mechanical, Production or Aviation Engineering or related field or equivalent from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 3 years demonstrated leadership, organizational skills and experience in manufacturing environment including work planning, scheduling, task / job assignment, quality procedures and budgetary control
- Individual must possess computer proficiency and demonstrated expertise in MS Office software packages such as; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Access to perform the job, duties and tasks associated with the position
- Develop the optimum factory layout for the production and assembly line and ensure that experienced staff are deployed in key areas for executing the High Wing Final Assembly activities
- Set appropriate and realistic standards, production goals with key performance indicators and target dates, complete paperwork daily and communicate all variances and changes with other departments in implementing company policies
- Manage stock and inventory requirements to complete the assembly of aircraft and ensures the assembly process adheres to policies and procedures and activities in accordance with the provisions of the approved Manual of Procedures
- Manage all documentation relating to aircraft build specifications to ensure full compliance with the customers requirements as specified by the Sales Department
- Ensure full compliance with all engineering directives, modifications, service bulletins and daily feedback on the build program to the Research and Development team as well as compliance with all necessary legal regulations pertaining to the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) to improve the production quality and standards relating to the final assembly process
- Set and maintain an appropriate production organizational structure and assign responsibilities; delegate authority; recruit, select, orient and train employees and carry out performance evaluation, promotion, retention and termination activities in consultation with the Directors
- Establish cost effective methods and processes to meet the production planning schedule whilst constantly assessing improved methods to reduce costs while continuing to deliver quality products on time, whilst highlighting any variances, shortages, production issues, inventory or stockouts and backorders with weekly follow ups and tracking delivery schedules
- Work collaboratively and cooperating with the other members of the Management team and other departments including Research and Development, Sales and Marketing, Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO), Human Resources and Finance to ensure customer expectations are met
- Demonstrate a strong leadership focus and personal commitment to occupational health, safety and environment policies and to fully comply with all health and safety and environmental legislation
- Adhere to company policies and procedures at all times and ensure that ethical codes and practices are adhered to in all business conducted on the companys behalf.
- Perform all other duties and special projects as will be assigned, from time to time, by the Production Manager
- Ensure that all company documentation is completed in full and submitted to executive management in a timeous manner
- Complete Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for all processes which do not comply with or deviate from the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and operating practices within the Final Assembly department and within where corrective actions are required to improve the processes
