**Main purpose of the job**:

- To support the implementation and effective execution of all projects through the management of study staff

**Location**:

- **Helen Joseph Hospital, Johannesburg**

**Key performance areas**:

- Work closely with clinic staff and study management team to implement, monitor, and evaluate study processes
- Ensure the clinic is well-equipped with the necessary resources
- Support peer educators in the recruitment of study participants per the study protocol
- Support and oversee study coordinators, nurses, floor coordinators, and other staff
- Coordinate and troubleshoot operational activities
- Liaise with sponsors, serving as the first point of contact at the site, especially when new projects start
- Collect & analyze site data, and submit appropriate reports to the management team
- Provide regular study performance updates to staff
- Integrate feedback into the project implementation plan and subsequent progress reports
- Identify and escalate site issues to the management team as needed
- Contribute to the development of study-wide communications resources
- Ensure all key personnel are trained, and maintain documentation on the same for audit purposes
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, feedback, and support to staff
- Participate in ongoing mentorship programs initiated by other stakeholders
- Work with the study management team to periodically assess the quality of services officered through the study
- Develop work plans with clear timelines for addressing the identified needs and priorities

**Required minimum education and training**:

- **Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing**:

- **Registration with the South African Nurses Council**

**Required minimum work experience**:

- **2-3 years of relevant experience in a research environment and working in a team**:

- **Previous experience as a study coordinator**:

- **Proficiency in MS Office**

**Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities**:

- Able to work independently in a high-pressure environment
- Ability to work collaboratively in large, complex, multi-departmental, cross-functional teams
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and pay attention to detail
- Good communication skills
