Reporting to the Materials Manager, the successful incumbent will be planning commodity inbound materials. Commodity materials will include local, mostly off-the-shelf materials. This includes, but is not limited to the raw materials to production (e.g., fibre-glass, foam), as well as the consumables used in the production process. It would also include other materials that is required for the general function of the business.

**KEY JOB FUNCTIONS**:
**Demand Planning**
- Update materials consumption forecast
- Update supplier forecast and shared with procurement monthly
- Forecast the trends in material consumption to provide input to MRP

**Inventory management**
- Review and update appropriate inventory parameters such as safety stocks, cycle stocks, lead times and re-order levels are in place and uploaded to SysPro
- Ensure MRP parameters are up to date and reflects current inventory management strategies
- Monitor and advise on bill of material accuracy.

**Materials Requirements Planning (MRP)**
- Adhere to the planning processes to support best practice MRP processes
- Implement corrective actions to minimize Airfreight orders
- Planning to support processes to avoid excess or obsolescent stock
- Prepare purchase requisitions before sending to Planning manager for high
- level review and approval
- Identify purchase orders for expediting / de-expediting and send to Buyers to action. Escalate to Planning manager where action by the Buyers is not forthcoming
- Identify short term material shortages issues and communicate to the appropriate department to action. Escalate to the Planning manager where action is not being taken timeously to address these shortages

**Reporting for commodity materials**
- Projected Materials Working Capital Requirements
- Projected Material Shortages
- Projected Excess Stock
- Short Term Material Risks

**Continues Improvement on commodity materials**
- Identify Supply Risks
- Identify High Risk Suppliers
- Recommend Items for Localisation
- Implement new measurements to drive improvements
- Align with Procurement, Production, Design and Warehousing to Improve Demand Signal
- Contribute to departmental improvement projects and strategies

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**:
Minimum Qualifications: Degree/Btech (NQF7) qualification in Supply Chain Management or relevant.

**Experience**:

- 2 - 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment in supply chain.
- 2 - 3 years’ experience in inbound materials planning
- Materials planning specialist knowledge (working with 4000 plus SKUs)
- Manufacturing Operations knowledge
- Warehouse & logistics knowledge would be advantageous
- Experience and knowledge in technical procurement is preferred

**COMPETENCIES**:

- MRP systems (SysPro preferred)
- Experience with Syspro will be advantageous
- Excellent working knowledge in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc).
- Strong Analytical Capability

- Have the ability to recognize and create opportunities and to act accordingly
