Extrusion Manager

**Job Desciption**:
ITB Flexible Packaging Solutions (ITB) is a flexible plastic packaging manufacturer and part of the Novus Holdings Group. ITB produces an array packaging for the FMCG and food markets. Its products include retail bags, security bags, FFS food packaging, heavy duty sacks and carrier bags which are distributed across South Africa and abroad.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Direct and motivate staff towards maximum performance.
- Manage and evaluate performance of production staff while maintaining discipline in the workplace.
- Identify training needs for production staff within the department.
- Implementation of all company goals, policies, procedures, and work instructions and ensuring that subordinates comply with the same.
- Liaise with other departmental managers including Sales team to formulate objectives and understand requirements. Develop and implement cost savings projects on a continuous basis.
- Develop extrusion formulations (recipes) with a good knowledge of raw materials, polymers, additives.
- Develop new products and generate samples, estimate costs, and prepare budgets for the Extrusion department and new projects/ innovation.
- Determine number of necessary resources (machinery, workforce, raw materials etc.) required for the department and to monitor and minimise scrap.
- Organise, plan and coordinate workflow for Extrusion machines to meet customers specifications and delivery dates.
- Ensure well-maintained machinery and equipment (operational) to ensure smooth running of production.

**Educational Requirements**:

- Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent
- Production Management Diploma/BTECH Degree or
equivalent

**Experience Requirements**:

- Strong Computer skills in Microsoft Office
- At least 5 years’ experience in Plastic Film Extrusion at a
Senior Supervisory or Management level

- Technical skills to deal with various technologies and programmes and knowledge to operate a computer.
- Attention to detail to ensure high level outputs and quality.
- The ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with your team, other managers, and clients where necessary.
- The ability to work under pressure and motivate others to meet deadlines with capacity to grasp concepts easily.
- The ability to work in a logical, systematic manner with knowledge of polyolefins such as LDPE/LLDPE/HDPE.
