**Qualifications and experience**:

- Matric
- Qualified Red Seal Welder
- Minimum 3 years’ experience after qualifying.
- Afrikaans and English fluency an advantage.
- Must have a vehicle and valid drivers’ license.
- Experience in the Manufacturing and or Engineering sector.
- Knowledge of power tools
- Knowledge of Health and Safety Rules
- Proficiency in all forms of welding

**Mission of role**:

- Responsible for the welding of product sub-assembly parts (sheet metal & tubing frames) using a TIG Welding Machine.
- Operating a TIG Welding Machine to weld 3D sheet metal seams & frames that fits product sub-assemblies. (not limited to tig welding.
- Responsible for set-up and operating a TIG Welding Machine to produce products that meets customer quality requirements.
- Collect, process and sort product sub-assembly parts according to different cutting lists after welding.
- Return production trolleys to Bending department when emptied.
- Assist Grinding/Tubing Operator with the sorting and stacking of parts after welding and grinding.
- Communicate with Grinding/Tubing Operator regarding the collection and status of each part.
- Use and maintain product welding files and ensure that files are available at any given time.
- Responsible for reducing waste generated by ensuring that the correct settings, welding speed and equipment are used during each welding operation.
- Monitor welding performance and adjust settings accordingly or report to Production Coordinator.
- Construct welding jigs and setup configurations for different welding needs.
- Do regular housekeeping in and around allocated Welding Bay.
- Ensure that welding tools are in proper working conditions and report faults to Production Coordinator.
- Ensure that Daily Task Lists and other documentation are completed in full and submitted to Production Coordinator.
- Provide daily stock counts of allocated resources (gas, filler and other consumables used).
- Ensure efficient collection of parts by Grinding/Tubing Operator and inspect welding quality after grinding for possible reweld or filling.
- Safeguarding of company tools and equipment allocated.
- Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
- Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g., cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
- Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
- Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
- Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.
- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
- Training and Mentoring Semi-skilled welders.
