Dewatering Coordinator

**The opportunity**:
We are looking to recruit a **Dewatering Coordinator** to ensure that all dewatering personnel are working safely, that pumping stations are operating safely within specified parameters, and to coordinate all dewatering activities.. This is a site-based role at our client’s Democratic Republic of the Congo site.

**What the role entails**:

- Ensure that the necessary permits and licenses have been obtained and are in place prior to any activity on the site.
- Bring to the attention of the Open Pit Dewatering Superintendent any defects or potential problems with pumping stations and pumping systems and propose solutions or suggestions.
- Contributing to the design and construction of pumping stations.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of the main supplies required for pumping stations, pipes, fittings, and equipment; and ensure that orders are placed to maintain the necessary stocks and monitor the progress of orders.
- Understand the dewatering risks to the successful execution of the mine plan and ensure they are communicated to the Mine Manager.
- Acting as line manager for the dewatering maintenance planners, to ensure that they actively carry out the maintenance activities planned for the pumping stations and pumps.

**What you will need**:
**Qualifications and experience**
- Have a degree in mining engineering, industrial engineering or equivalent.
- At least 5 to 10 years' experience in dewatering in an open cast mine.
- Knowledge of French or Swahili would be an asset.

**Technical skills**:

- Have basic pump mechanics skills and a good knowledge of electric and diesel pumps.
- Basic knowledge of boiler making.
- Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical insulation (all energy sources).
- Good knowledge of HDPE piping and welding.
- Knowledge of drilling pump installation and removal.
- Good knowledge of cranes, excavators, manitou, wheel loaders, Hiab trucks and TLBs.
- Ability to operate and control a large open-cast dewatering infrastructure.
- Basic computer skills required (MS Office).
