The Department of Information Systems plays an important role in supporting this strategic imperative. The Department prides itself on developing highly qualified professionals and researchers in Information Systems and associated fields. The Department offers both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Information Systems. At the undergraduate level, the Department offers a BCom Information Systems Degree. Post-graduate programmes include a BCom Honours, Postgraduate Diplomas in Data Analytics and e-Logistics; both a structured and research Master’s Degree and a PhD in Information Systems.
- Facilitate learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Information Systems programmes
- Conduct research and publish in mutually agreed Information Systems related foci
- Undertake undergraduate and postgraduate supervision
- Provide academic leadership and administration
- Undertake curriculum development and assessment
- Undertake community engagement and outreach
- Identify and pursue collaborative networks and research partnerships to advance the academic project
**Minimum Requirements**
- A PhD degree or equivalent in the field of Information Systems, Computer Science or a closely related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Information Systems
- Relevant industry or teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: Data Analytics, Software Development, Database Design
- A track record of quality peer-reviewed publications in Information Systems and related knowledge areas
- A record of successfully supervising postgraduate students
- The integration of community engagement for societal impact with learning and teaching and/or research
- Evidence of expertise, national standing, and where appropriate, an international presence in the Information Systems or associated fraternities.
