**Minimum Requirements**:

- Grade 12 is essential.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business Administration or relevant discipline will be advantageous.
- Honours Degree in a relevant discipline and or an MBA would be advantageous.
- Minimum three (3) years' experience in a managerial position.
- Minimum five (5) years' experience within an operational/ production role preferably in a poultry processing and or abattoir environment.
- Understand and implement policies, procedures and processes.
- Task driven and deadline orientated with excellent planning, organising and time management skills as well as the ability to work on own initiative and initiate actions.
- Demonstrate excellent communications skills in Afrikaans and English (written and oral).
- Ability to manage a diverse workforce and to lead with ethical principles and values that inspire confidence and create trust.
- Excellent literacy and numerical skills with accurate working ability and close attention to detail.
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to form professional, positive and collaborative working relationships with personnel at all levels and to act in the best interest of the company.
- Ability to integrate, promote and adhere to ethical principles and core values throughout the company and business practices and to act in the best interest of the company.
- Ability to effectively manage conflict and deal with difficult and stressful situations in the workplace.
- Demonstrate sound experience at a management level with excellent team working skills.
- Ability to interact with various stakeholders and governing bodies with strong negotiating and reasoning skill.
- Portray an understanding of human resource management and personnel management.
- Demonstrate knowledge of profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow management and general finance and budgeting principles.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- Work under pressure, plan personal workload effectively and delegate.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends, and public holidays.
- Computer literate with a high proficiency in Microsoft Office specifically MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with production software and relevant programmes such as Meat Matrix will be advantageous.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Implement and maintain policies and procedures to ensure the company's compliance to legislation, standards and certification requirements such as:

- NEMA, FCD Act & Regulations, Meat Safety Act, OHSA etc.
- FSSC 22000 food safety standards as well as hygiene assessment system (HAS).
- SANAH certification; Certifications governed by the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD) specifically the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Directorate.
- Ensure all statutory obligations of the company are fulfilled such as filing of legal and regulatory documents and submission as well as monitoring compliance with the various legislation and regulations throughout.
- Manage and oversee internal and external audits and analise risk factors to minimise risks.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the abattoir and execute the operational strategy aligned with the organization's overall business strategy and that of the COO which includes overseeing production processes, ensuring efficient use and availability of resources etc.
- Ensure that the abattoir and sub departments function optimally, including but not limited to Processing, Quality, Storeroom, Rendering and Processing Planning activities ensuring team members thrive and organisational outcomes are met.
- Ensure that the abattoir and rendering operate efficiently and achieves a profitable turnover/ throughput while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
- Ensure that the Processing Planning department functions optimally and is effective, including record keeping and administration thereof.
- Drive Continous Improvement through analysing and identifying development areas and formulate goals, strategies and action plans to improve these areas in alignment with the company's mission & vision.
- Initiate, manage and oversee operational and strategic projects as well as the implementation and optimization of systems and technology to promote efficiency and control measures.
- Managing financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting on deviations within the processing divisions in conjunction with the finance department, which includes monitoring expenses, identifying areas for cost-saving, and optimizing resource utilization.
