An exciting new vacancy for a Business Development Executive with notable experience in global cargo and freight solutions. We are looking for someone with an entrepreneurial mind-set who can identify great business opportunities. Not only securing new clients but also looking at acquiring businesses that will add to the holistic service offerings of the group. Our client is a leader in global freight logistics with over 20 years experience - mainly perishable goods. The go-to supplier of specialised logistic solutions, international freight logistics and unique business solutions. The new business developer will be required to position the company for growth by evaluating and actively seeking out new sustainable business opportunities for the group.

**Requirements**:
Qualifications and experience:

- Minimum matric - essential (combined with extensive industry experience)
- A relevant tertiary qualification in i.e. global logistics / shipping / freight
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience in this industry sector

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required:

- Understanding of competition, market and industry trends (international trade)
- Applicable understanding of effective and efficient Global Logistics Solutions
- Applicable knowledge of logistics industry and shipping line activities
- Development and design of measures, process and procedure
- Clarity and understanding of organisational structure, systems, policies and procedures

**Responsibilities**:
Actively seek out, evaluate and develop new business opportunities within Africa:

- Constantly evaluate and actively search out and investigate new opportunities for companies within the group
- Investigate best method of participation i.e. New Company / Buy existing concern / Partner with existing business or find suitable agent
- Ensure we investigate and understand ALL possible solutions for each client / country, across borders
- Understand the clients requirements and problems. Research and record all potential clients, services and commodities and all details of their requirements. Find innovative options for logistics solutions
- Research and document all service providers with details in all new venture areas

Ensure legal and contractual compliance:

- When partnering with existing entities ensure all contracts completed both shareholding and operational

Ensure financial viability and operational deliveries are mapped out and met:

- Once decision made to continue ensure team and systems / procedures in place to operate and measure both operations and profitability
- Ensure logistics solutions is done prior to season start with all possible scenarios - research all possible solutions - especially those the client is not aware of.
- Proactively gauge the strategic viability (within mandate) of each quote with the Commercial Department and Relevant Director. Ensure quotes to clients are market related and maximizes profit opportunities
- Ensure each quote is checked for accuracy and is professionally presented without compromising the companies intellectual property and strategies
- Ensure viable profitability
- Ensure all quotes are market related and correctly / strategically presented to each client

Build relationships, build the Group brand and ensure client requirements are addressed when developing new business opportunities
- Identify and attend strategic networking events and industry forums to ensure the company remains in the loop with industry changes and client needs
- In person visit at least bi annually all clients (pre and post season) to determine requirements
- Ensure that there are weekly / bi weekly meetings with clients, in person or virtual with feedback to relevant parties
- Participate with team to decide strategy with milestones and timelines
- Ensure consistent service level offering is provided by log manager to all clients, as needed
- Challenge the status quo on current logistic solutions and/or clients

Ensure new business ventures align with and compliment the greater growth strategy of the Group:

- Weekly meeting with relevant director - more as and when needed
- Quarterly review of strategy with relevant Director
- Effectively communicate and ensure compliance with company goals, values, strategy and policies
- Maintain a credible leadership profile in line with the Organisational culture both internally and externally
- Ensure the team is functioning as a productive positive unit, working together well with other departments / partners, while maintaining high work standards
- Support staff to resolve issues and overcome challenges
