**Junior Environmental Manager (M/F/d)**: full time - unlimited

**Your Tasks**:
**Objectives**
As a Junior Environmental Manager (M/F/d) within JUWI, reporting to the Senior Environmental Manager in the Project Development Division, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks involved in the project development of Wind and/or Solar photovoltaic (PV) and/or Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects.

**Primary Responsibilities**
Generally, active involvement across all phases of the project development process, from site selection through to financial close.
- Conduct detailed environmental screenings to inform internal development decisions, engaging external environmental consultants and specialists as required.
- Occasionally participate in project site visits/inspections.
- Work with internal and associated stakeholders in obtaining the necessary project development permits, licenses, and approvals.
- Assist in the appointment and management of the various external consultants involved in the project development process.
- Support the Project Development Team maintain the validity of all necessary permits and approvals, as well as perform technical due diligence and/or resolve any permitting related challenges during the project development phase.
- Close interaction with specialized internal departments involved in project design, construction, procurement, business development and project acquisition.
- Provide regular inputs on project progress, budget utilisation and team strategy.
- Stay abreast of environmental legislations and continuously evaluate compliance obligations.
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Environmental Manager

**Your Profile**:
**Qualifications and Experience**
- Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in environmental law/science/management
- At least 2- 3 years of experience working in a similar position.
- Proficient experience of the South African Government’s National Environment Management Act (NEMA) and its associated Environmental Authorisation processes, preferably as it relates to Wind, Solar PV and BESS projects.
- Motivated, driven and ability to self-manage and work well in a team
- Strong administrative skills and skilled at report writing and analysis of technical reports
- Proven ability to work within a small project development team and across business units.
- Proven ability to solve problems creatively.
- Proven experience of successfully managing multiple projects within budget and on schedule.
- Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize competing time demands.
- Proven ability to speak and write fluently in English.
- Ability to travel often.
- In possession of a valid South Africa Code 08 driver’s license.

**Desirable Attributes**
- Basic understanding of renewable energy business.
- Previous experience in the environmental permitting of wind and/or solar PV projects.
- Knowledge of the various renewable energy related guidelines in South Africa, some examples are the Renewable Energy Development Zones (REDZ), Strategic Transmission Corridors, various bird and bat monitoring guidelines, etc.
- Sound understanding of the International Environmental and Social standards, including Equator Principles and IFC Performance Standards.
- Able to perform research, write articles and present to an audience.
- Proven ability to speak fluently in another South African language.
