**Assitant General Manager / Hotel Manager - 5* Hotel - Durban, SA**
**About the job**
The Assistant General Manager / Hotel Manger is responsible for all aspects of the operations at the property through the coordination of the Divison managers and Head of departments. The Hotel Manager carries the responsibility for being the of being the ambassador for the brand, providing leadership and support the service culture to result in maximum guest satisfaction while working very closely with regional GM and superiors.
**Minimum Requirements**
- Hotel Management / related qualification
- At least 2 years in the same or similar position in a 5 star hotel
- Familiar with all the duties and procedures of a 5 star hotel
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to interact with others on all levels of employment
**Main duties and responsibilities**
**Management**
- Display exceptional leadership by providing a positive work environment, counselling employees as appropriate and demonstrating a dedicated and professional approach to management
- Implement performance standards to ensure absolute guest satisfaction
- Performance management, Discipline, Coaching and development
- Ensure effective communication amongst various departments
- Efficient and productive running of the hotel
- Ensure information is communicated from a group level to hotel employees
- Report incidents to Group Services
- Manage Stores
- Continuous motivation of staff
**Operations**
- Exceptional knowledge of all hotel products and services
- Guest complaint handling
- Build relationships with guests and cross sell all services and products
- Walkabouts to ensure all areas are up to standard
- Implement and maintain the SOP's throughout operations
- Ensure websites are updated
- Maintain standards of food preparation and presentation
- Establish standards for personnel performance and customer service
- Conduct performance appraisals
- Progressive discipline as required
- Ensure stock systems are in place
- Monitor daily cash ups, variance reports and voids
**Administration**
- Conducts audits as requested
- Ensure property specific legislative compliance
- Evaluate guest opinions through various online portals
- Investigate all complaints
- Initiate policies and procedures and corrective action to avoid further complaints
**Financial**
- Hold regular meetings with Finance department and division heads to ensure adherence to property budget
- Follow purchase order procedure
- Review monthly income statements
- Check Operational asset lists monthly
- Spot check stores
**Human Resources**
- Ensure correct recruitment procedures are followed
- Regular on the job training to be provided
- Conduct probationary reviews
- Ensure that fair and equitable discipline is applied
- Manage staff files
