Reporting to the Head of Controlling and Reporting, the Cost Controller collaborates with the business and ensures the company follows all reporting guidelines and procedures with regards to cost controlling in overheads.

**The Person**:

- B.Com Honours in Financial and Managerial Accounting.
- More than 3 years experience in a similar role.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and awareness of business trends.
- Able to generate budgets and reports.
- Advanced MS Excel skills including - xlookups, sumifs and pivot tables.

**Competencies**:

- Exceptionally well organised with an aptitude for data.
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Solid networking and interpersonal skills.
- Strong presentation skills, able to explain concepts concisely and accurately.
- Able to develop strong, co-operative relationships with Department Heads.
- Creative thinking skills.
- Ability to solve problems.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software packages.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.

**Accounting Duties**:

- Provide accounting support for Purchasing.
- Fixed assets (additions, disposals, depreciation).
- Accruals and deferrals, inter-company loan recons.
- Bank recons, leases and straight lining, provisions.
- Financial reporting & review of the P&L for validation and correction (GL accounts, reporting dimensions, actual vs budget).
- Reconcile the GL Account system entries to supporting documents.
- Assist with any relevant queries and recons.
- Upskill staff and flag training needs where needed.

**Cost Controlling Duties**:

- Work in conjunction with all Department Heads to ensure maximum profitability.
- Provide critical assessment of all budgets and cost projections.
- Assess all incoming services to ensure the best price.
- Remain acutely aware of market trends that could impact resource costs.
- Keep up to date on new vendors and possible cost-avoiding partnerships.
- Analyse invoices to ensure correct products/services were received at the expected cost.
- Educate and persuade stakeholders to procure buy-in and co-operation.
- Roll out clear cost-saving programs with timelines and assessment goals.
- Contact for all purchasing reporting.
- Upskill staff and flag training needs where needed
