The Specialist Operations Manager is a critical role that has the responsibility of ensuring that Finance operations as a whole run effectively and efficiently. The role is responsible for continuous process analysis and optimization and a drive to deliver more with less. The role will be responsible for all tasks that is outside of the day-to-day scope of the various operations teams such as trend analysis, model weightings, bulk market actions, specialized fund pricing, etc. The role serves as a backup to the various operations managers.- Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to
- Monthly operational reviews for Asset & Liability, Discovery Manco, Offshore as well as Discovery Structured Products
- Data Extractions, Investigations & Analysis
- Trend analysis
- Operational support to operations teams (query escalation \ incident management \ anomalies \ backup for operational managers)
- Operational setup and Day-to-day Process setup of new initiatives (funds / mancos / platforms / feeds / ect)
- Data migrations
- Daily operations around specialized funds that exists outside of the scope of the standard operations teams
- Operations around LISP model reweighting
- Operations around Bulk Market Actions & Migrations (planning / communications / instructions / queries / reconciliations)
- Audit queries
- Compliance queries
- Knowledge Base build up & maintenance
- System Analysis and writing Business Requirements
- Report writing and design
- Continuous process review and business optimization
- Continuous drive to automate more
- Ensure audit readiness for the various operational areas
- Regular reporting about operations to stakeholders

- Matric
- BCom Degree in Finance \ Business \ Fund Administration \ Fund management or related qualification
- 5-8 years of experience in an investment environment
- Strong query resolution & analytical skills
- Strong data analysis skills
- MS Excel - must be excellent
- SQL Syntax - will be advantageous
- Exposure to LISP operations as well as MANCO operations
- Exposure to a Fund Administration/Pricing System
