Quality Manager

**Purpose of Position**
Provide clear leadership for the development of an environment focused on quality, and be willing to execute and engage on all levels of the business to make this happen.
Assist in developing quality-process links with customers in line with the Quality Management system (including: IATF16949, ISO14001 / ISO 9001, Production Part Approval Process
- PPAP, Advanced Product Quality Planning - APQP, Control Plans, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis - FMEA and Supplier Quality Assurance - SQA processes) and oversee continued compliance and embedding across the business.
Work proactively with all managers, supervisors and employees, to maintain a programme of continual improvement within their areas of responsibility. Lead a ‘correct at source’ and problem-solving methodology.
**Business Context**
PDC is a manufacturer and supplier of non-ferrous metal parts into the local and international building hardware, automotive and utilities markets. The business consists mainly of manufacturing, trading, tool design and tool manufacturing plus other support services to produce and sell these products. PDC employs around 280 people.
**Minimum Requirements**
- Degree in Engineering
- Tertiary Qualification in Quality Management
- 5 years’ experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment in the metals and automotive industries preferably
- Proven experience in latest versions of Q1, IATF 16949(2015), ISO 14001(2015), ISO9001(2015), Control plans, FMEA's
- Proven ability and experience to programme and run CMM
- Proven ability and experience in executing on dimensional gauging, including gauge control, GR&R
- Proven ability to collect, analyse and make causal findings from manufacturing process data
- Interpret engineering drawings
- Microsoft office proficient with advanced to expert level in excel (must be able to import, access and analyse large datasets frequently and with ease, and distil this to summarised and actionable reports)

**Key Responsibilities and Performance Indicators**
- Lead a quality team to support operations efficiently and effectively to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance in line with customer requirements
- Implement the strategy and direction provided from senior management to entrench a quality culture that mitigates risks and ensures customer satisfaction.
- Champion a program for the implementation and sustainment of a continuous improvement culture.
- Co-ordinating product testing and quality control functions for new product introductions and product improvements
- Proven ability and experience to advise production how to make changes based on CMM results
- Maintain all certification ie. ISO 9001, IAFT 16949, ISO 14001
- Implement all relevant procedures described in the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure compliance.
- Ensure that all in-house systems and procedures are updated, revised and modified to meet the needs of external certification bodies
- Update quality documentation and communicate to carry forward lessons learned from quality concerns.
- Ensure that all necessary systems and procedures are in place to satisfy all customer requirements and audits.
- Ensure compliance documentation is maintained in line with customer requirements.
- Initiate and lead internal and process audits of the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Manage non-conformance system ensuring all internal and external NCs are closed off in an efficient and effective manner.
- Manage internal process and product audits to ensure risk mitigation and conformance to customer requirements, reporting on non-conformance.
- Manage process control to ensure compliance with PPAP, any deviation to be managed through non-conformance system.
- Daily and weekly sign off of casting process variables per batch adhering to the thresholds determined by the Casting Process Engineer
- Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks periodically.
- Establish and refine quality sign-off instructions, standards and documentation
- Management of the Quality controllers in the sign-off of parts and the resolution of internal/external quality concerns
- Data analysis - providing the relevant managers with accurate data to assist with effective problem solving.
