We have an exciting opportunity for a Shift Laboratory Analyst to join the team based in Rustenburg.

The primary functions of your role, in line with the Responsibilities are outlined below:
Responsible for carrying out analytical methods and standard operating practices and reporting the results thereof to a high degree of precision and accuracy, ensuring that an effective and high-quality analytical service is provided. To meet reporting deadlines on the various types of samples / commodities submitted to the laboratory for analytical evaluation and ensuring confidentiality of results. Day to Day responsibilities will include:

- Ensuring at all times that a high degree of accuracy and precision is applied to methods and procedures through incorporating and promoting good laboratory practice principles.
- Responsible for ensuring that work throughput is followed in accordance to documented methods and procedures. It is the post holder’s responsibility to inform the Senior Analyst / Shift Chemist of any failure in compliance to documented methods.
- Workload that is assigned to the post holder is effectively managed through the most cost-effective utilization of time and resources.
- Advising the Senior Lab Analyst / Shift Chemist of repetitive technical problems relating to day-to-day analytical procedures and standard operating practices.
- Maintaining records and laboratory data such that work is clearly and easily auditable and traceable.
- Processing analytical data unsupervised in preparation of results being reported.
- Ensuring the confidentiality of all results at all times.
- Ensuring laboratory equipment and instruments are well maintained at all times with faulty equipment being brought to the attention of the Shift Chemist immediately.
- Performing routine maintenance of equipment as instructed by the Senior Analyst /Shift Chemist.
- Performing instrument calibrations when required, routinely performing instrument checks and recording all relevant data, as instructed by the Shift Chemist.
- Ensuring that all laboratory work areas and workstations are kept clean and tidy, i.e. Good Housekeeping.
- Ensuring that the Company’s Health & Safety policy is applied effectively in areas under the Post Holder’s control.
- Upholding ISO 17025 / SANAS Accreditation requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
- Matric (with Math’s and Science)
- Must have knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently
- Must be computer literate - Microsoft Office (prove ability)
- Must have sober habits
- Must be honest
- No criminal record

Required Experience and Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Maths & Science)
- Analytical Chemistry Qualification
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an Analytical Laboratory (preferably experience with ICP-OES, Wet chemistry)

Required Languages
- Highly proficient in English (Verbal and written)
