The Actuarial Analyst analyses data for rate and reserve adequacy, develops various actuarial and statistical models, examines irregularities in data, develops pricing, performs competitive analysis and assists in the analysis of corporate loss reserves. Formal Qualifications
B.Sc/B.Com (Mathematics/Mathematical Statistics/Actuarial Science)
A minimum of 5 actuarial exams completed Working Requirements and Knowledge
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an actuarial field within long-term insurance
Pricing or product development in long-term insurance
Investigations experience
Portfolio Analysis
MSOffice (advanced Excel knowledge), VBA and SQL
IFRS17 knowledge/experience is advantageous Key Responsibilities
Developing and maintaining pricing models
Developing, maintaining and enhancement of risk products and policy terms
Quotes on new business and improved benefits
Reviewing rates on existing business
Monitoring of claims ratios and profitability of Safrican’s schemes
Assisting with performing the various experience investigations (incl. expense and mortality investigations)
Assisting with the development of the pricing bases for all risk products
Performing monthly valuation / reserving
Assisting with statutory reporting
Assisting with the IFRS17 implementation
