Quality Control Manager

The position is responsible for inspecting the quality of stored fruit to ensure that it complies with the export requirements and are packed to specification for the intended customer.

**Key Performance areas**:

- Product quality control of product packed for different customers.
- Work with team to ensure fruit is sorted and packed according to customer specification.
- Conduct routine quality inspections and give feedback to line managers to make corrections.
- Assist with corrections of quality problems if problems persist and a solution is not apparent.
- Communication with PPECB regarding booking of inspections, queries etc
- Keep trend of rejections and make recommendations to improve.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of product quality data.
- Use data from quality software to investigate customer complaints and claims.
- Analyse shelf-life data collected by quality controllers for progressive defects.
- Admin and record keeping related to quality and compliance.
- Document controlling customer specifications.
- Responsible for QC personnel’s compliance documents.
- Management of QC staff.
- Training and skills development in the QA department.

**Qualifications and experience required**:

- A relevant tertiary qualification in Quality Assurance, Food Science / Food Safety or Horticulture.
- Minimum of 3 years prior experience as an Assistant Quality Manager with fruit / fresh produce will be advantageous as will be experience in a packhouse.
- Has a sound understanding of industry food safety requirements (e.g. BRC, Tesco)
- Sound understanding of post-harvest fruit handling.
- Sound understanding of cold chain management.
- Able to understand an interpret packing specifications.
- Knowledge and experience of pome fruit and / or berries is compulsory.
- Sound Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Vitrax knowledge will be advantageous.
