Parks and Gardens Supervisor

**DESIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION**
- Matric
- An applicable qualification will be to your advantage.
- Excellent communication, customer relations skills and conflict management skills are essential.
- Ability to speak English with at least one African language.
- 5 years’ experience in fauna and flora management and maintenance of parks and gardens.
- 3 years supervisory experience / cross functional knowledge in supervision.
- Knowledge and experience in the following will be to your advantage:Handling of power tools (lawnmowers, edge cutters, chain saws, etc.)

Basic knowledge of the working of power tools (e.g. to replace a saw blade)
- Valid Code EB drivers’ licenses and own vehicle

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

The Facilities Coordinator must assist, help and see to the following:

- Planting of new plants and dividing and transplanting of existing or new plants.
- Keep flowerbeds neat and clean.
- Keep edges of flowerbeds neat and clean.
- Developing whole new beds, preparing soil, planting and watering plants as per instruction.
- Plant plants and seeds as and when instructed to do so.
- Prune and cut plants and help to remove plant material.
- Water beds and lawns sufficiently after dividing, trimming and weeding.
- Water gardens sufficiently according to the water program.
- Remove all rubble such as tins, bottles, plastic bags and other waste from the premises as and when required.
- Remove all weeds and grass growing between the paving as necessary.
- Clean the security parameter as required.
- Attend to and clean the outside parameters of the premises.
- Make sure all the rubbish is removed and loaded on the provided vehicles as required.
- Attend to and cleaning of the estate, cleaning of streets, pavements canals, etc.
- Make sure the lawn is cut and neat.
- Spike and scarify lawn per instruction and when necessary.
- Maintain and clean all garden equipment provided at all times.
- Wash vehicles as and when instructed to do so.
- Cleaning of all facilities, bathrooms and locker rooms.
- Washing of windows and floors as per instruction.
- Sorting of rubbish to compost and skips as taught by the employer.

The Facilities coordinator must:

- Report back duties to the facility managers or superiors every day or as requested.
- Report faults and jobs not finished either as part of own duties or duties of another team.
- Report back on any damages on any resident’s properties or residents.
- If through negligence damage is caused to any garden equipment provided, you will be held responsible for the costs of repair or replacement thereof.
- If any tools are signed out to an employee that person stay responsible for those tools until it is signed back to the store. The Facilities coordinator must make sure that all his workers return their tools.
- Specialized jobs as per training like the maintenance of the swimming pools. The employee will be held responsible for the weekly maintenance and reporting to the employer.
- Reporting of faults and jobs not finished either as part of own duties or duties of another team.
- See to the sign-in sheets and that it is filled in correctly.
- Report if workers failed or have problems to work according to their contracts.
- Report any incidents whatsoever relating to the job or safety of the job.
- Immediate report on accidents or failures while preceding your job even small ones.
- Report all faulty equipment to employer.
- Any other ad-hock projects like paving, small building projects, painting, repairing of tools, building or machinery.
- Any instruction within reason from the employer.

**Salary**: From R14,341.88 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Gauteng, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- High School (matric) (preferred)

**Experience**:

- maintenance of parks and gardens: 5 years (preferred)

**Language**:

- english (preferred)

License/Certification:

- EB drivers license (preferred)
