Cashier

**Purpose **: The purpose of this job is to ensure and maintain an efficient service, this includes following the cash register procedure and accurately ringing up sales, in such a manner that it results in an increase in customer satisfaction and continuous growth of the business.

**Main duties**:

- Compute sales prices and total purchases
- Check cash received by customer
- Receive and process cash, EFT and credit card payments
- Ensure all sales processed accurately and efficiently on the cash registers
- Bag/ Package purchased items in shopping bags
- Issue receipts and give customer change
- Complete relevant paperwork for certain transactions
- Open and close cash registers, performing tasks such as counting money, separate charge slips, vouchers, balancing cash drawers and making drop deposits
- Request Supervisor authorisation for certain transactions
- Issue gift cards, check customers reward cards and cash in points
- Communicate customer requests to till supervisor
- Maintain orderly appearance of register area and supplies stocked
- Any other tasks as assigned from time to time by any manager

**Requirements**:

- **MUST** have a Matric Certificate OR equivalent NQF 4 certification
- Cashier experience will be an advantage
- Possess good communication skills - on all levels
- Ability to read, write and count to accurately complete all documents
- Ability to work independently and as a team player
- Ability to follow instructions
- Ability to process information / merchandise through register system
- Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job
- Ability to work varied hours/days, weekends, and public holidays
