-Wits University Press, a publisher and department of the University of the Witwatersrand, is advertising for a full-time Commissioning Editor. This position requires an incumbent with extensive experience and knowledge of the scholarly publishing landscape in South Africa.

Key responsibilities include the following:

- List building and commissioning of scholarly publications
- Peer review management
- Editorial management
- Preparation of publishing budgets and book costings.

**Requirements**:

- A postgraduate degree
- A minimum of five years’ publishing experience
- The ability to critically assess scholarly writing and peer review reports
- A working understanding of author contracts, copyright and licensing
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and networking skills
- Knowledge of developments in digital publishing will be an advantage.
