Responsible for providing oversight, input and challenge of AVAF credit risk performance by setting minimum standards and monitoring performance. To manage the development of impairment, Capital and Stress Testing models through specialist teams.

**Job Description**:
Accountability: Strategy Design and Analysis

Responsible for ensuring Business performance adheres to the approved standards set and provide ways to improve portfolio performance. This includes the following actions:
- Ensure that all strategies comply with ABSA credit risk policies and framework- Manage and co-ordinate the development of reporting requirements and portfolio measures for the product Risk Management team through the Absa’s committee structures.- As the Data Owner, ensure quality of data is fit for purpose and complies with the BCBS239 (or RDARR) principles. Drive embedment of the controls to all the critical data elements as defined by the BU risk function. Own the Risk Data and Risk Reporting process for the Business by providing guidance to the relevant embedment teams.- Own and direct the development of impairment and regulatory type models, i.e., Impairment; Capital (Regulatory & Economic); Stress Testing.- Champion and drive regulatory changes applicable to the BU and the models that calculate Probability of Default (PD), Exposure at Default (EAD), Loss Given Default (LGD), and Default Correlation for both impairments and capital in the portfolio to ensure that appropriate capital (Economic and Regulatory Capital) and impairments are held on the portfolio.- Ensure business originated for existing customers is within stated Risk Appetite on an on-going basis.- Sourcing, consolidating and analysing large data sets, utilizing strong SAS skills and identifying anomalies/trends.- Present key credit trends and highlight recommendations and risk mitigation plans to the relevant Risk Management Head by either extracting data from within own team or consolidating data from central MI team.- Identifying gaps in Acquisitions, Portfolio Management and Collections & Recoveries processes and strategies and providing solutions to closing the gaps/streamlining processes.- Liaising with relevant stakeholders, including Sales, IT, Front end, Collections, Operations, Finance and other Risk & Business teams.- Presentation of analytical results and proposals to both technical and non-technical audiences, providing commentary as required.- Contribute (strategically) to building the vision and developing successful practices for the Business and the wider Risk Management Team.- Your ability to display strategic risk experience as well as solid SAS/Data Analytics skills will serve you well in this role. A strong quantitative, statistics and/or actuarial background with a track record of running with an entire project from conceptualization, to extraction of data, to formulating strategies and subsequent impacts of implementation through to excellent stakeholder engagement and management will be an added advantage.

Accountability: MI and Communication- Review and report portfolio performance and trends to the Head of Credit: AVAF, Credit Risk Committee, Group Risk teams, and Product Teams.- Actively manage and improve the risk-based profitability of the portfolio.- Communicate analytical results to both technical and non-technical audiences.- Work together with cross functional teams, which may be geographically dispersed, to deliver risk initiatives.

Accountability: Customer Complaints Management- Investigate and resolve issues relating to customer complaints whereby the portfolio is impacted. Provide prompt and clear feedback to relevant stakeholders of the investigations undertaken.
- Education and Experience Required- B Degree in Actuarial Sciences, Finance, Mathematics, Econometrics, Engineering, Statistics or similar (Masters and Honours degree will be an advantage)-
- 3 years’ experience in credit risk analysis.-
- 3 years’ experience in developing data driven analytical strategies in a financial service industry.3 years in depth knowledge of the credit tools and systems used.-
- 5 years’ experience in the financial services industry.-
- 5 years’ experience with Acquisitions, Existing Customer management-
- Experience in Pricing strategies in the Credit Risk environment.- Knowledge & Skills:
