Our reputable **Cold Storage Operations client** that is based in **Durban** is seeking a skilled **SHERQ Officer** to join their team.

**Purpose of the job**:
To coordinate and monitor the implementation of the Company's Health and Safety policy. To ensure that the Company and its Contractors comply with the requirements of legislation by monitoring contractor SHE compliance, attend and report at safety meetings and ensure statutory and regulatory compliance.

**Requirements**:

- Grade 12
- SHERQ qualification
- SAMTRAC Certificate (Advantageous)
- Min 5 years’ experience
- Exposure to and understanding of implementation of OHSAS 45001 / 14001 and ISO 9001
- Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in monitoring and auditing of contractor safety performances

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensure the implementation of systems and procedures to reduce the risks in the operation
- Investigate incidents in the workplace and report on corrective and preventative action
- Compile Risk Assessments for each SHERQ incident on routine and non-routine activities based on the operation
- Ensure all contractors sign section 37 agreements and are up to date with Workman’s Compensation and public Liability
- Ensure that the client’s needs are attended to in terms of SHERQ compliancy
- Maintain SHE Systems
- Conduct SHE Committee Meetings (plan, scheduled and review).
- Prepare information for management review meetings and internal and external audits.
- Compile training needs analysis.
- Audit all work being performed by contractors on civil, access and optical fibre build programs (in accordance with the Annual Audit Schedule).
- Provide detailed audit reports with findings.
- Identify non-conformities and provide corrective action measures to prevent re-occurrence.

**Experience**:

- SHERQ Officer: 5 years (required)

- investigating incidents in the workplace and report: 5 years (required)
- compiling Risk Assessmentts: 5 years (required)
- maintaining SHE Systems: 5 years (required)

License/Certification:

- SHERQ qualification (required)
- SAMTRAC Certificate (preferred)
