**Position Description**

**The Barrick Africa & Middle East Team **is seeking to recruit a **Compensation and Benefits Manager - Africa & Middle East (AME) **to join and grow our team. This role will be responsible for managing compensation and benefits for the company in multiple countries in the AME region, enabling the company to attract and retain top talent, as well as ensuring that the company's compensation and benefits programs are aligned with its business objectives.

The role will report directly into the Head of Human Resources for Africa Middle East and will be required to travel to Barrick sites in AME.

You will be expected to align to the Barrick DNA and to operate within our mining assets with our best people teams. You will contribute in a safe and cost-effective manner to achieve targets in accordance with Mine Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures and ensure daily targets are met.

**Responsibilities**

**Compensation and Benefits Management**
- Work with the Exco team in communicating and translating the compensation and benefits strategy.
- Manage salary and wage structures, design and administer employee benefits programs, and ensure compliance with local laws and regulations.
- Support the HR teams with compensation and benefits requirements for recruitment, talent management and retention activities.
- Review and provide recommendations regarding job descriptions, salaries, and job grades / levels.
- Manage compensation projects for the region.
- Conduct market and salary surveys to ensure that the company's compensation and benefits packages are competitive and attractive to existing and potential employees.
- Manage and participate in annual salary surveys.
- Keep abreast with remuneration trends within the industry.
- Manage compensation and benefits processes, including salary budgets, bonus planning, new benefits introduction, etc.
- Review job descriptions for various positions and determine appropriate base pay.
- Advise on salary increase requests.
- Forecast the budget for salary increases.
- Manage regional benefits (life insurance, pension etc.).
- Conduct periodic audits, prepare, and present reports.
- Review and sign off the monthly regional payroll.
- Work closely with the Global Compensation and Benefits team in Toronto.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, such as insurance companies and retirement plan administrators.
- Develop and deliver training and communications material to educate employees about the company's compensation and benefits programs.

**Job Evaluation & Alignment to the Barrick Group**
- Implement and manage job grading / classification for the region.
- Analyse job descriptions and conduct job evaluations and classifications across the region.
- Manage job evaluation committees across all sites.
- Review and sign off job evaluations.
- Train HR, Line managers and employee representatives on the principles of job evaluation.

**Year-End Compensation Cycle & LTI Management**
- Manage, plan, and execute the annual compensation review process.
- Manage and maintain participant lists for STI / LTI for the region.
- Manage site and regional annual increase, STI and LTI budget schedule as part of the annual year-end compensation process.
- Develop proposals for annual increases, CPI data, market trends etc. as part of the annual increase budgeting process.
- Update and maintain the annual increase and STI schedules.
- Generate compensation statements.
- Manage the LTI vesting process for the region.
- Work with HR and Payroll to determine tax obligations for the LTI arrangement for the sites.
- Manage all related LTI administration during the year.

**Expatriate Compensation**
- Manage expatriate compensation for the region.
- Review and recommend expatriate compensation packages across the region.
- Conduct expatriate salary benchmarking as required.
- Administer expatriate benefits across AME.
- Update census data quarterly for benefits invoices.

**Regional Office and Expatriate Payroll**
- Review the regional offices and expatriate payrolls on a monthly basis.

**Element Compensation & Performance Module**
- Work with the Toronto Total Rewards Department on implementing the compensation module in Element.
- Coordinate clean-up efforts across AME for data requirements for the compensation module in Element.
- Maintaining the system, implementing (process) improvements, ensuring data quality, and analysing and reporting on the data in the Element Compensation Module.
- Coordinate the annual compensation review process in Element.
- Coordinate the annual budget process across AME.
- Provide SME support for the Performance Management Module across AME.

**Qualification requirements**
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or Finance.

**Experience and competencies needed**
- 10 - 15 years’ experience in a similar role with proven working experience as a Compensation and Benefits Manager.
