Sanlam Investments (SI) is one of South Africa’s largest investment management companies, offering a comprehensive range of client-focused investment solutions to end-investors, intermediaries, and larger institutions. **Purpose of the role**:
Heads up the Performance and Attribution function within Sanlam Investment Group. The Performance and Attribution team calculates performance returns for portfolios and benchmarks and undertakes analysis to explain the contributors to, and detractors from, excess performance. Multiple business units within Sanlam Investment Group are supported by this team. This individual will represent the team on different platforms within the company and serve on Industry working groups representing Sanlam Investments. Key responsibilities:
Manage the Performance and Attribution team
Management oversight on all output
Performance and attribution reporting to internal clients
Sign-off performance fees
Liaise with the Administrator on operational issues
Analyse tax differences between portfolios and benchmarks
Represent Sanlam Investments on industry working groups

**Minimum requirements**:
Undergraduate degree, preferably commercial (e.g. B.Com, B.Bus.Sc)
Relevant postgraduate qualification would be advantageous (e.g. CFA, CIPM)
At least 10 years’ experience in institutional asset management, with middle office experience being an advantage

**Strong understanding of**:
the corporate landscape, service providers and key needs of retirement and retail funds
portfolio management and risk processes
alternative attribution processes including bond attribution and factor analysis
corporate events and the impact on performance
cashflow analysis and the impact on performance
derivatives and cash offsets
