**Job Purpose**

Waste Carriers is in search of a Recycling Plant Manager to manage the daily operations of all recycling processes as well as to drive continuous improvement and optimisation of systems and processes. This position reports to the General Manager

**Responsibilities**:

- Planning and implementing a new recycling plant manager for the business by sourcing of raw materials, recycling product testing and developing and improving of product
- Ensure the effective development, training, adherence to and enforcement of safety procedures and protocols of the plant.
- Assess occupational and environmental safety hazards and effectiveness of controls and hazard reduction potential for all areas of the plant.
- To lead plant reporting, vendors, commodities, and basket value.
- Manage the plant in a safe manner in compliance with all government regulations and company policies.
- Analyse data, develop production schedules, processes, and procedures to meet the daily production and quality goals.
- Manage budget by continuously monitoring the operating budget and participate in the organisation operations budgeting process.
- Develop initiatives to meet and support business objectives.
- Oversee inspections, maintenance, repairs and continuous functionality of plant processing equipment and stock.
- Manages the plant supplies, PPE, office supplies and basic cleaning supplies.
- Ensure the daily housekeeping plan is followed in all assigned areas and that all areas are cleaned according to the required standards.
- Plan, organize, direct, and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations
- Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards
- Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time transportation
- Allocate resources effectively and fully utilise assets to produce optimal results
- Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
- Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions
- Share an ethical relationship with employees and recruit, manage and develop plant staff
- Collect and analyse data to find places of waste or overtime
- Collaborate with relevant role players to ensure customer satisfaction
- Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics, and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
- Asset management and optimization of all fleet, equipment, facilities, and operational employees
- Operational, QHSE, legal and environmental compliance
- Manage time keeping and attendance of operational employees

**Requirements, Skills & Qualifications**
- Advanced knowledge of recycling plant operations and/or high-speed labour based industrial manufacturing systems
- Must be able to work with high-level direction and be an independent self-starter
- Ability to manage and lead a diverse workforce including, Processors, Sorters and Administrative staffs
- Multi-tasking individual with the ability to keep several processes efficiently and safely progressing toward facility/organisational goals
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand how the plant equipment operates to make appropriate system and component adjustments
- Ability to work extended daily hours, weekends and/or holidays. Must be flexible to work various shifts to support operations and respond to emergencies or client requests
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
- Above average organisational skills and the ability to prioritize departmental functions to meet due dates and deadlines
- Advanced computer literacy, including functional ability in to utilize software knowledge for automated processes and data collection
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and be a senior leader in a team environment
- Proven work experience as a Plant Manager
- Proven managerial experience
- Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
- Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
- Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory, and stewardship processes
- Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
- Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
- BS degree in Business Management or related field
