The Competition Commission seeks to appoint a dynamic, hard-working and committed **Senior Analyst **in** Market Inquiries**. The successful applicant will initially work on the Media and Digital Platforms Market Inquiry (MDPMI). Subsequent to the completion of this inquiry, the individual will move to other market inquiries for the remainder of the fixed term contract. The fixed term contract is renewable based on performance.

**Skills and Experience**

**We are looking for a dynamic, hardworking and a committed individual who meets the following requirements**:

- Honours degree in Economics or Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree. Masters in Economics or LLM will be given preference.
- 6-8 years Economics or Legal competition and regulatory environment work experience.
- Knowledge, understanding and experience of competition law and the Competition Act is highly recommended.
- Strong analytical skills and experience in investigating cases and/or managing research
- Research and investigative skills along with strong investigative acumen.
- Proven project management experience of working in a multi-disciplinary investigation teams.

**Other considerations**:

- Practical work exposure to area of expertise will be further considered to balance against other requirements.

**Key Accountabilities**

**The main responsibilities of the incumbent will, inter alia, include**:

- Research leadership in the identification of issues to be assessed in a market inquiry and the evidence required to analyse those issues.
- The development of information requests and survey instruments to gather the required evidence, including follow up requests.
- The development of an analytical framework for assessing the issues identified in a market inquiry, including research of international best practice and jurisdictional approaches to similar issues.
- The analysis of evidence within the analytical framework in order to reach robust conclusions on whether features of the market hinder competition or undermine the purposes of the Competition Act.
- Developing potential remedial strategies for addressing any market features that hinder competition or the public interest.
- Provide day-to-day guidance to analysts and junior analysts in the market inquiry team with regards to analysis.
- Reporting to the market inquiry panel on the progress and outcomes of the research, including the underpinnings of competition issues.
- Contribute to the provision of the theoretical and intellectual platform for the effective implementation of the Competition Act.
