**Main purpose of the job**:

- To recruit and provide outpatient medical care and treatment to clinical trial participants (HIV, COVID-19, NCDs) in designated facilities, to support the formulation and implementation of the technical specialized project strategy for PrEP, and to provide support such as training, mentoring, referrals, and data management

**Location**:

**Key performance areas**:

- Develop and continue to adapt as needed a comprehensive strategy to achieve the specialist project objectives
- Represent Ezintsha’s technical and organizational strategic objectives for PrEP and PEP
- Provide technical expertise at donor, DOH, and stakeholder meetings in relation to PrEP and PEP
- Be the first point of contact for PrEP internally, to donors, DOH, and partner organizations
- Identify areas in the relevant health care system that need to be strengthened to ensure effective implementation of your project area’s technical strategy
- Collaborate with other specialist teams and stakeholders at the Institute to review, develop new or revise existing strategies based on program outputs
- Conduct site visits and support the programmatic teams to evaluate progress toward the achievement of the project’s technical strategy objectives
- Provide the implementation team with the appropriate tools to implement the project’s objectives
- Generate reports on activity outputs in your technical area internally and for both DoH and the donor
- Ensure appropriate dissemination of reports
- Examine, treat, and refer participants according to research protocols and guidelines
- Ensure the inclusion of appropriate participants in clinical trials
- Prescribe appropriate treatments
- Report adverse events as per protocol, within applicable timelines
- Ensure appropriate management plans are followed for all abnormal lab results
- Support PrEP Projects in defining and formulating strategic objectives for Implementation Research across the project
- Adhere to internal policies that govern the development and approval of Protocols including regulatory frameworks of research studies
- Ensure relevant courses required for participation in research studies (e.g., GCP completed and updated regularly)
- Participate in and supervise relevant PrEP projects
- Support the writing of abstracts and best practices by the PrEP projects teams for dissemination at conferences, donors, etc.
- Participate in the writing of studies for publication purposes and dissemination to relevant academic and non-academic sources
- Compile reports on different aspects of clinical care, including adverse events, pregnancies, etc.
- Capture data on CRFs and patient logs
- Proactively resolve protocol queries and missing data
- Participate in program audits
- Compile and submit reports to Programme Managers for submission to donors
- Participate in compiling documents to showcase EZINTSHA’s work
- Attend meetings
- Act as a point of contact for the research site, partner organizations, donors, and internally where appropriate
- Communicate with all levels of EZINTSHA staff about inputs and outputs
- Provide feedback to internal and external stakeholders where required
- Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrate effective self-management
- Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
- Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback
- Take ownership of driving your own career development by participating in ongoing training and development activities such as conferences, workshops, etc.

**Required minimum education and training**:

- **MBBCh Degree or equivalent**

**Required minimum work experience**:

- **Minimum 2 years experience in Public Health, with a focus on PrEP**

**Professional body registration**:

- Health Professions Council of South Africa

**Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities**:

- Certification in HIV Management (PrEP, PEP, therapy)
- Experience working in a donor-funded organisation/NGO or project-based environment
- Experience writing donor proposals and protocols
- Exceptional organizational and administrative skills together with working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ordered and systematic in approach to tasks
- Attention to detail
- Pro-active, able to exercise discretion and independent decision-making
- Able to prioritize own workload and work towards deadlines
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Able to speak other African languages
