The Pharmacist is responsible for providing pharmaceutical services (within the scope of practice) and performing day-to-day dispensary administration according to the company's Standard Operating Plans (SOPs). To focus on the administration of scripts to provide general dispensing duties with an emphasis on patient satisfaction

**Responsibilities & Duties**

The responsibility of the Pharmacist at Health on Point is not exhaustive and may change from time to time as decided by Management.

**People Responsibility**:

- To provide high standards of pharmaceutical care, accurate and safe dispensing,
including generic substitution, and the provision of advice in accordance with Clicks’
way of working, good pharmacy practice and within the legal scope of practice as
outlined by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
- To efficiently execute all operational activities of the dispensary, including safe and
responsible stock management, shrinkage, general housekeeping and
administration in line with merchandising, SAPC regulations and company
standards.
- Correct errors on scripts rejected by medical aid
- Furnishing information and advice to any person with regard to the use of medicine
- Determining patient compliance with the therapy, and follow-up to ensure that the
patient’s medicine-related needs are being met
- The provision of pharmacist-initiated therapy

Act and Pharmacy Act
- Keep abreast of changes in medical aid procedures and requirements for claims
and dispensing
- Maintain customer profiles on the system
- Take note of any messages on the customer profile, and take suitable action
- Report on low / out-of-stock levels, and stock errors to Management
- To ensure the operational viability of the dispensary by focusing on core dispensary
and clinic targets.
- To build and maintain sound working relationships with relevant stakeholders
(centre managers, suppliers, DC’s) to ensure business objectives are achieved and
opportunities are maximised.
- Dispensing of any medicine or scheduled substance on the prescription of a person
authorised to prescribe medicine
- The compounding, manipulation, preparation or packaging of any medicine or
scheduled substance, or the supervision thereof
- The manufacturing of any medicine or scheduled substance, or supervision thereof
- The purchasing, acquiring, importing, keeping, possessing, using, releasing,
storage, packaging, re-packaging, supplying or selling of any medicine or
scheduled substance, or supervision thereof
- Follow up with patients regarding script tacking reports as requested by the
Dispensary Manager, and follow-up appointments
- Explain all medical aid costs to patients
- Process all paperwork for accurate submission of claims to medical aids
- Ensure authorisation of chronic, HIV and AIDS, and oncology medication
- Facilitate biannual stock takes
