Our client is a fish processing company, based in Atlantis on the West Coast. They import and export seafood products from and to various countries worldwide and want to appoint a Junior Quality Control Manager who will be responsible for ensuring that the Food Safety system is implemented, maintained, and improved in the company - the position will report to the Quality Assurance Manager.

**Responsibilities**:

- Participate in continuous improvement projects and trials.
- Assist with training of employees as per training schedule.
- Ensure that Document Controller, Quality Controllers, Quality Administrators and Quality Supervisors perform their duties correctly.
- Ensure that the correct product specifications, for products being produced, are available. - Assist with third party audits, customer audits and supplier audits.
- Conduct monthly food safety meetings and obtain relevant trends and information for discussion.
- Investigate customer complaints and provide feedback timeously.
- Assist in management of label requirements and regulations.
- Ensure all internal audit findings are addressed and communicated effectively to the relevant departments.
- Ensure that GMP audits are conducted by relevant employees and that findings are addressed and communicated.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining the Food Safety System (IFS Food) and updating documents and procedures to adhere to legislation and regulation.
- Assist in obtaining relevant information from suppliers to update specifications accordingly and perform risk-based assessments.

Other requirements:

- Must have own reliable transport and valid drivers’ license to commute to Atlantis on a daily basis.
- Must be flexible due to work demands.
- Computer literate in Office 365 (Ms Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- ND/Degree in Food Technology, Consumer Science or BSc Food Science required.
- Any additional qualifications in Quality Control and/or Food Safety will be advantageous.
- HACCP knowledge will be advantageous.
- Internal Auditing experience will be advantageous.

**Experience**:

- 1-2 years’ related work experience will be advantageous.
- Exposure in a food processing environment will be advantageous.
- Knowledge of HACCP, food safety, pest control and SOP’s will be advantageous.

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Atlantis, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- Diploma (required)

**Experience**:

- Quality Control Management: 1 year (required)
- HACCP knowledge: 1 year (required)

License/Certification:

- Drivers' license and own transport (required)
