The purpose of the Head: Group Payroll, Benefits & Compensation role is to provide functional strategic alignment and execution of the portfolio and to provide service leadership in delivering the end-to-end provision of payroll, benefits, and compensation execution services for the Shoprite Group. The Head: Group Payroll, Benefits and Compensation Execution achieves success by ensuring that payroll for the Group is well administered at all levels of execution and that benefits, and employee compensation are managed according to the relevant policies and scheme rules. The role interacts with the Head: Reward and OE by providing input to reward related strategies and providing support and/or feedback to newly implemented reward structures, frameworks, or approaches. The role is integral in suggesting new payroll, benefits, and compensation processes to streamline or improve services delivery. Working closely with the support desk, the teams aim to make the employee experience user friendly and revisit the service model and various tiers of support rendered at the first line service desk.

Role Description

**Employee Centric Delivery**
- Driving development of the Group Payroll, Benefits & Compensation Strategy for the Shoprite Group in collaboration with the CPO, People Partners, Head People Solutions & Services, Divisional People Teams as well as the People Solutions and Service Delivery Teams to deliver on the proposed employee value proposition and experience.
- Together with the Head Reward & OE, driving the development and implementation of the Payroll, Benefits & Compensation Framework.
- Overseeing the development and implementation of the Shoprite Group’s integrated Payroll, Benefits & Compensation processes.
- Ensuring the end-to-end management and administration of all payrolls for all divisions within the Shoprite Group.
- Ensuring that payrolls comply with all relevant statutory requirements and returns are submitted correctly, accurately, and timeously.
- Ensuring the end-to-end management and administration of benefits offered to employees within the Shoprite Group including management of Shoprite pension fund and medical aid scheme.
- Ensuring the day to day, package structuring, execution of employee compensation and data administration applicable to the management of employee compensation.
- Supporting REMCO and Trustee preparations and requests for Payroll, Benefits & Compensation related activities.

**People (Self, Team & Organisational)**
- Developing and leading the Group Payroll, Benefits and Compensation Execution team to deliver Group Payroll, Benefits & Compensation Execution services to the business in accordance with the relevant policies and scheme rules.
- Driving enablement of an innovative, agile and employee centric culture where employees are supported, empowered, and valued within Group Payroll, Benefits and Compensation Execution.
- Driving enablement of an employee wellness culture within Group Payroll, Benefits and Compensation Execution to ensure that employees are supported mentally, physically and emotionally.
- Driving enablement of a culture of open and transparent communication within Group Payroll, Benefits and Compensation Execution to ensure that employees are informed of developments timeously.

**Financial, Reporting and BI**
- Developing budgets for Group Payroll, Benefits and Compensation Execution.
- Managing Group Payroll, Benefits and Compensation Execution costs whilst balancing the need for optimal service delivery to employees and operations.
- Driving the collection and use of Group Payroll, Benefits and Compensation Execution data and business intelligence.

**Governance & Compliance**
- Ensuring that the Group Payroll, Benefits and Compensation Execution complies with relevant labour relations frameworks and legislation, policies, and scheme rules.
- Implementing Group Payroll, Benefits and Compensation Execution governance structures, policies, processes, procedures, and frameworks.
- Overseeing identification and mitigation of Group Payroll, Benefits and Compensation Execution risks.

**Future-Fit**
- Ensuring Group Payroll, Benefits and Compensation Execution services are appropriately structured and resourced to deliver on its mandate with the right people in the right roles with the right capabilities at the right time.
- Ensuring continuous improvement across the Group Payroll, Benefits and Compensation Execution value chain.
- Overseeing identification of relevant Group Payroll, Benefits and Compensation Execution technology requirements to enable a seamless employee experience.
