Tripplo (Pty) Ltd is a pan-African focused, Johannesburg based, logistics technology business. Our vision is to create the new standard for African road freight logistics. We are building our own logistics platform that facilitates the safe & efficient movement of cargo across the SADC region. The platform also gives transporters technology to automate & optimise their operations for better efficiency & profitability. **The Role**
- We are looking for a business focused, entrepreneurial Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to join Tripplo’s executive leadership team. In addition to shaping Tripplo’s technology vision, the CTO will be the bridge between business & technology. You will provide leadership direction on technology & product strategy to accomplish Tripplo’s short, medium & long-term goals. You will take a leading role in scaling the platform, heading up all aspects of product design, technical architecture & technical development.

**Responsibilities**:

- Enhancing the technology strategy based on the overall business strategy
- Crafting & executing a well-designed customer centric solution architecture
- Product management & implementing the product roadmap
- Occasionally diving deep into software development - strong back & front-end proficiency, as coding might be required mainly at the beginning
- Setting up & managing the technology infrastructure & DevOps
- Building, managing, mentoring & leading a high-performance tech team
- Developing standards & procedures to ensure quality practises across the platform & for incoming teams
- Conducting code reviews & ensure quality code output
- Building quality assurance & managing feedback loops
- Manage & collaborate with various internal & external stakeholders such as our customers, strategic product partnerships and sometimes our investors.
- Representing the business as an Exco member at various touchpoints
- Join the Business team in customer interaction sessions to get a keener understanding of customer’s issues and requirements and drive technology development to solve for those issues

**Required Skills & Competencies**:

- At least 8 years of experience working with well-engineered software products with modern technologies
- Thorough domain expertise in various technologies
- Ability to adapt to changes quickly
- Understanding of overall business fundamentals
- Strong customer orientation
- Demonstrated track-record of delivering well-engineered products with modern technologies for a variety of different problem domains
- Experience building scalable SaaS based products across any of the top cloud platforms e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP etc
- Good working knowledge of API design (e.g., REST, OpenAPI, GraphQL)
- Understanding microservices architecture design paradigm
- Knowledge & proficiency in the following development languages: NodeJS or Python.
- Knowledge of a range of current cross-platform product development framework, such as React JS, React Native
- Good understanding of automated deployment experience using CI/CD principles & build pipelines
- Ability to create & implement a data strategy to enable analytics that enhance the business’s objectives
- Knowledge of project management methodologies & strong with time management
- Strong understanding of integration & service orchestration strategies
- Experience working in a start-up
- Has experience working in an agile environment & is able to constantly test, learn & iterate based on user feedback & prioritize features
- Strong communication skills - you’ll be sharing the results of analyses & discussing technical problems with the team
- Managing costs & budgets across the technology value streams
- Experience leading a team with the ability to provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support, while promoting a collaborative and innovative work environment
