Developing packaging designs that ensure the safe transportation and storage of products.
- Creating packaging solutions that meet regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Manage change proposals and concessions or deviation.
- Identifying cost-effective packaging materials and solutions without compromising product safety.
- Implementing strategies to optimise packaging costs while maintaining quality.
- Evaluating and implementing environmentally sustainable packaging practices.
- Reducing the environmental impact of packaging materials through innovative and eco-friendly solutions.
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with packaging material suppliers.
- Ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of packaging materials.
- Implementing quality control measures to ensure the integrity of packaging materials.
- Conducting regular audits to assess the quality of packaging solutions.
- Conduct operator training and control dummies as well as sample material with packaging assistant.
- Ensure continuous improvement of packaging and investigate all packaging related complaints.
- Ensuring packaging compliance with local and international regulations.
- Staying informed about packaging-related regulations and implementing necessary adjustments.
- Manage packaging certification and certification maintenance program
- Streamlining packaging processes to improve efficiency in manufacturing and distribution.
- Reducing packaging time and resources while maintaining product quality.
- Introducing innovative packaging solutions that enhance product presentation and functionality.
- Keeping abreast of industry trends and advancements in packaging technology.
- Collaborating with manufacturing teams to align packaging designs with production capabilities.
- Ensuring seamless integration of packaging processes into the overall manufacturing workflow.
- Identifying and mitigating risks associated with packaging, such as damage during transportation.
- Implementing measures to minimise the risk of packaging-related issues.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- BSc, BCom or relevant degree or diploma
- At least 3-5 years’ experience as a packaging custodian
- Knowledge of AECI Mining Explosives' products, equipment and services
- Experience in packaging of dangerous goods
- Good knowledge of the packaging industry
- Good knowledge of all regulatory requirements for the transport of dangerous goods by road, rail, sea and air
- Working knowledge of SAP system
- Knowledge of the OHS Act, Explosives Act and the MHSA.
- Customer relationship management ability
- Financial acumen and data analysis ability
- Advanced MS Excel knowledge
- Project management is advantageous
